What Nourishes Your Soul? – (Chapter: Chapter One)

"You are up on current events, what’s the hottest, most sot after reaturant in LA right now?", she said putting her palms flat on the desk leaning into them lightly. "That’s easy, Crimson.", the man said as a matter of fact like. "I’ve heard about that place, I read an article in the LA Times about it the other day. It is suppose to be unable to get into without like months in advance. The owner is this new-shot young chef, one of the youngest graduates of Le Cordon Bleu and one of the youngest restaurant owners in the history of the state. The restaurant just opened, apparently this person is suppose to be like a protegee or something. If you get us in there I know it would impress her ans show her we mean business! That is if you can get us in?"< her boss said putting his head in his hands. Ashley stood up with a grumble, "I’m Ashley Davies, don’t humor me with this "if" crap. When things need to get done I get them done.", she putting her hands on her hips. "Whatever you say kid.", her boss replies. Ashley hated it when he called he kid. Truth be told she was made for this job, she was the daughter of deceased rocker, Raife Davies, she wknew the music business inside and out. She was known for being able to spot talent from a mile away, it helped build her reputation as a closer. Ashley was also a charmer and smooth-talker with men and women alike. She was young for the profession she was in but, that she didn’t let that hold her back and she was already making a name for herself.

Glen just stood back watching the interaction between the two from the safety of the doorway. He knew well enough to keep his distance, Ashley Davies was stubborn and when she was provoked she had a terrible temper. She had once lost her temper being in a heated yelling match with their boss and through a laamp at Glen’s head but, the pay was good and for the most part he liked his job and Ashley. "Glen, get Melissa on the phone, I going to call in that favor she owes me.", she said watching her boss’s eyes go wide in shock. He knew Ashley didn’t use her personal pull very often, especially when was from Ashley’s ex. That’s right Melissa is Ashley’s ex, Ashley is gay. Her ex, Melissa Kent was the spoiled party-girl brat of one of the richest families in California. Yeah, crazy I know, things ended badly between them when Ashley found Melissa in bed with her pool boy. Even though things ended badly he knew Ashley held power over Melissa, the power to ruin her "perfect" little life by telling daddy about his little girl’s "little affections for the softer sex". He wtched as Ashley picked up the phone and gritted her teeth as she fakely talked to the fore-mentioned brat. "Melissa, hi…It’s Ashley. Yeah I know it’s been a long time. No, I dont want to get together. Listen I need a favor and brore you say anything you know you owe me.", Ashley said coyly knowing her power over this stupid girl. Ashley couldn’t believe she dated this girl, she was such a dumb blonde and the crazy thing is that she is a brunette. Oh yeah, that’s right the sex was fan-fucking-tastic! Who was she kidding of course it was the girl was a whore after all. That definately could’ve been the reason. Ashley wasn’t a player or anything, not anymore that is. Melissa has just come at a time the girl was young and heart-broken over her died just dying. Ashley was into partying, heavy drinking and drugs, needless to say despite the fact Ashley stayed faithful to the girl her taste in women at that time was not so good. Ashley was never the cheating type, even in those days she couldn’t bring herself to disrespect and hurt the person she was with like that. But, that was all water under the bridge and Ashley was a better person now, a stonger one. Her boss looked up and saw the brunette continuing to talk tensely and through gritted teeth to the women on the other end of the phone. He nervously put his head back in his hands and tried to focus on anything other thatn the conversation going on across the desk. He looked up when he heard Ashley repalce the receiver, "So…", he said almost holding his breath. "Friday night at 8:00 pm.", Ashley said with a slight smirk. "Unbelieveable kid, I don’t know how it is that you do it, I’m just glad you’re on my side.", he said with a smile. Ashley cringed as the word, "kid" was said again, can’t he think of something else to call her, damn! "Now go on, get outta here. I have work to do.", she said sitting back down behind her desk. She watched as the two men walked out the door and closed it behind them. Ashley leaned back in her chair with a loud sigh, why did she have to ask Melissa for that, she hated needing someone….
