Those damn summer nights…. – (Chapter: The beginning)

Another day for Spencer home sitting Raife Davies’s house until he returned from tour. She heard about and got the job from the classifieds. She was lucky to get it because he only wanted overqualified college students looking over his home during the summer months. She got every paid every two weeks which was very good pay. It was 2,000 every two weeks to watch the mansion as well, you stayed in the West wing which had everything you needed. You never had to go downstairs or to the other wing for anything.

She enjoyed actually this summer because it gave her time to catch up on her studies. She was a 20 year senior at UCLA studying criminal justice, a subject she thought hard against at first but she loved it more than anything.

Her cell phone went off, ‘Good Afternoon, Glen! How’s the parents?’

‘Um Hello, Mother is having a cow because you didn’t come for the 3 times in a row for the summer. Of course, Dad is like ‘Spencer is a grown woman,’ said Glen mocking his father perfectly.

Spencer laughed and sighed, ‘I thought Mom would be so gone by now with Benny boy.’

‘Spence? Come on… You think mom would want to pay for alimony or child support for our 3 year brother, Austin.’

‘That’s true, Glen. I sometimes feel sorry for Austin. He has 15 more years with her. That sucks!’ laughed Spencer into the phone. Glen laughed with her.

‘Well, I have to go because our other brother, Clay, wants me to whip him in basketball.’

In the background, Clay shouted, ‘I heard that. Spencer, We love you. Come home to save us from the rapture!’

‘Awww! I love you guys, too. I miss my brothers! Well, I have to go but I will come visit this weekend when I have time. Don’t tell Mom or Dad.’

‘Okay, baby sister, have a great week at the infamous Mr. Davies bachelor pad.’

The line went dead. Spencer blinked back a tear. She missed her brothers especially her baby brother Austin. There was a controversy over Austin because her father had wanted a DNA test on him due to her mother’s infidelity back when Spencer was a senior in school. Austin was Arthur flesh and blood. He was a splitting image of her father.
