The Way I Loved You (Chapter Four)
“We have school tomorrow,”
“Not if we don’t want to go.” I grinned and shook my head. “Come on Spencer, I just need to be with you.”
“In more than the biblical sense?” She laughed as I pulled a pair of jeans over the boy shorts that I was sleeping in.
“Yes, but if we wind up in some wildly hot embrace, you won’t find me complaining.
“How do you propose that I get out of my house, you know my dad sleeps on the couch these days.”
“That’s what windows are for baby,” I held my phone to my shoulder with my cheek as I slid open the window and crawled out onto the roof. I eased myself down so that I was sitting on the edge, it was a pretty good drop and I tried to swallow my fear as I prepared to jump. “Are you fucking insane?” She hissed, running over. “You’ll break your legs!”
“You told me to go out the window!”
“Yeah! The bathroom window that’s on the bottom floor! Not your second story window!” I blushed but carefully climbed back into my bedroom. A few minutes later I was outside, safely on the ground with her and she took me off guard by wrapping her arms around my waist and pulling me into a long kiss. “I’m sorry,”
“For what? “ I asked, completely forgetting about our fight in all the excitement of sneaking out.
“For our fight, I was stupid for being jealous of that guy but the next time he wants to carry your books you should probably note that he has more than friendly intentions.” I grinned and pulled her into another kiss. “Okay, let’s go before your mom catches us.” We wound up at the beach and we stayed until the sun came up, just holding each other and making promises that never held out; though in years to come she would claim that we just had sex all night.
“Spencer you’re really starting to scare me with this spacing out thing.” She said teasingly and I realized that we were parked outside our favorite old diner. I hadn’t been there since the last time I’d gone with Ashley nearly seven years ago.
“I didn’t even know that this was still here!” I said, climbing out of the car. I didn’t even think about it when she grabbed my hand and entwined our fingers; we had always held hands, it wasn’t a big deal to me. We walked into the diner and she didn’t pull away her hand until we sat down in a booth. We weren’t even there for five seconds when people started to come up to the table; asking for pictures and autographs. She shot me an apologetic smile and I smiled back reassuringly. Finally though she sent them away, promising to sign more when she was done eating.
“Sorry,”
“It’s not a big deal, really. Remember how crazy it used to get in New York?” They had to get campus security to get everyone out of my dorm common room where they were waiting for Ashley almost every time she visited. Sometimes people would sit out in the hallway outside my dorm room and we would have to sneak down the fire escape. It calmed down once I got my own apartment but we were still followed everywhere.
“Yeah, well people are just obsessed with my hot body,” I laughed and she grinned as our waitress came over and nervously took our order.
“You’re just as cocky as you’ve always been.” I said teasingly, throwing my straw paper at her. She laughed when it fell only halfway to its mark.
“You love it,” She taunted.
“Maybe a little bit,” I said, causing her to burst into laughter. After we ate and Ashley signed a few more autographs she grabbed my hand and pulled me back out to the car.

I like this story. pms!
like it :)
great update! and I have to say I LOVE stories with a lot of flashbacks so now I’m double excited about this! seems like spence has the tiniest tiniest (like 1%) regret for accepting hugh’s proposal. I’m sure she’ll figure it all out in time though. pms!
“though in years to come she would claim that we just had sex all night.” that line is freaking brilliant- like seriously it so sets a tone…and the fight in the rain, hello to the imagery! excellant
i agree ash has to make the first move cuz spencer already did five years ago
