    CHAPTER THIRTY TWO

    ASHLEY’S POV:

I am so glad today is Friday. I am really looking forward to sleeping late tomorrow. I could not go to sleep last night. I kept thinking about the stupid bet I made with Madison. When I first made the deal with Madison I never thought I would fall this hard for Spencer. What makes me feel worse is I’m falling harder for her everyday.

It’s time for lunch but before I go to the quad I have to run to the restroom. When I walk in I see Spencer at one of the sinks looking through her purse and she doesn’t see come in.

    Ashley walks up to Spencer.

    Ashley: Hey baby.

Spencer jumps and turns around to see Ashley.

Spencer: Hey, you scared the crap out of me.

Ashley: Sorry. What are you looking for?

Spencer: My lip gloss. (Looks in her purse again.) I could’ve sworn I put it in here.

    Ashley: Which one was it?

Spencer: My strawberries and cream gloss.

Ashley: Oh I like that one.

    Spencer: You have it too?

Ashley: No, but whenever I kiss you it makes your lips taste really good.

    Spencer smiles.

Spencer: Well, now I’m really upset that I can’t find it.

Ashley: I think I can manage without it.

Ashley begins to lean in to kiss Spencer, but another girl comes out of one of the stalls and goes over to the sinks. The girl washes her hands and leaves.

Spencer: So how is your arm?

Spencer runs her fingers along Ashley bruise.

Ashley: Much better, thanks to you.

Spencer is still stroking Ashley’s arm, and now the two girls are lost in each other’s eyes.

Madison: Well, if it isn’t the two lovebirds.

Spencer removes her hand from Ashley’s arm and Ashley’s eye dart over to Madison.

Madison walks over to the girls.

Madison: Ashley why didn’t you tell me you and Spencer were together?

Spencer looks extremely confused because she hasn’t told anyone about her and Ashley except Chelsea and Kyla. Ashley is in panic mode because she doesn’t want Madison to say too much.

Ashley: Hey Spence, I need to talk to Madison for a minute. I’ll meet you at the table, okay?

    Spencer: Yeah sure. (Spencer leaves.)

Ashley: What do you want Madison?

Madison: Oh come on Ash, can’t a girl catch up on some gossip with her best friend?

Ashley gives Madison a look like she doesn’t believe a word she’s saying.

Madison: Okay you caught me, I really don’t want to know about your relationship with the circus freak. From the looks of it, though, I would say I’m winning the bet.

    Ashley: Bite me.

Madison: Someone’s feisty today. What’s the matter? Doesn’t the freak put out on the first date?

Ashley: You know what Madison, I’m done with this and I’m done with you.

    Madison: Excuse me?

    Ashley: The bet’s off.

    Madison: You can’t do that.

Ashley: Yes I can and I really don’t give a shit what you think anymore. Ever since we were kids I’ve done nothing but take orders from you, and I’m sick of it. Find someone else to be your shadow.

Ashley brushes past Madison and starts to leave.

Madison: You can call off the bet Davies, but that doesn’t mean I won’t tell your “life-partner” all about it.

    Ashley stops and turns around.

Ashley: Go ahead, tell her. It won’t matter though, because I’ve already told her all about it. And being the great person she is she forgave me.

Okay so I’m lying through my teeth. I haven’t told Spencer about the bet. But if Madison knew the truth I know she would use it against me and that would be the end of my relationship with Spencer.

Ashley: Now that we’re done talking, I have somewhere to be.

    Madison: One more thing.

    Ashley: What?!

Madison: Well, since you are pulling out of the bet that means technically I win. So I want the squad.

Ashley: Fine. I’ll name you the new captain today at practice and then you can leave me the hell alone, for good.

    Madison: My pleasure.

Ashley rolls her eyes and walks out of the bathroom.
