The One Who Changed My World – (Chapter: Chapter 12)

“Is that how things ended?” she asked hopefully.

“Not by a long shot,” I answer seriously. “That’s where they began to become too intense. That’s what Kate and I were; intense. More intense than anything I had ever felt before. And it felt fantastic. I’d have rathered have my worst fight with her, than laugh with anybody else. Even in our fights there was intense passion and an insatiable need to love each other. We would scream and yell and sometimes get physical; but it was only so we could show the other person our side, how we saw and why we did what we did. Because even if it pissed the other one off, in some twisted way we did it to show how much we loved each other. Or maybe sometimes because we were so dam scared of the intensity.”

Spencer looks like she’s on the verge of tears now and I feel like I’ve shared too much. “I’m sorry, Spencer. But I didn’t want to lie to you. What Kate and I had was real. But I promise you; it doesn’t compare to what I have with you. She was my first love. But you’re my forever love,” I do my best to assure her as I stroke her cheek that tears are now falling down.

“How did it end?” she asks curiously.

“It was messy. We fought so much it was taking over our lives. Then we had a really big fight over winter break of freshman year when I was staying at her house. I couldn’t take it anymore and I just left and drove home. I called her a million times after that. I wanted to apologize and have her take me back. She never answered. I came back to school second semester and all of her stuff was moved out. I’ve never spoken to her since. She broke my heart Spencer, and the pain was unbearable for a so long. That’s what brought on the Ashley Davies you’ve heard so much about. I drowned my heartbreak in one night stands and cheap vodka.”

At this point I’ve curled up into her, laying with my head on her chest as she held onto me tightly.
