The One Who Changed My World – (Chapter: 2)

Finally, as I came into my sophomore year, Aiden saved me. He accepted for everything I was. I finally thought I was going to be okay in this world. I came to love my drunken antics and one-night stands; they became a part of who I was. I felt like a rebel without a cause and I can’t say I didn’t love it for a while. It wasn’t the most fulfilling lifestyle; but the high was unmistakably intoxicating in the best kind of way. But then Spencer seemed to turn everything around. I no longer wanted to be the heartbreaking sob story, destroying myself one emotional belligerent rant at a time. It felt all too unreal. In hardly no time at all, I wanted to be better, for her.

That Thursday after the party and my antics with Melissa, Spencer didn’t show up for movie night at Aiden’s like we had all planned. When Aiden asked Angela why, she said that Spencer had a lot of studying to do. But I figured it was because she felt uncomfortable around me. The week after that, though, I saw her again, but this time at a bar. It wasn’t a bar that most college students usually frequented so I was surprised to see her there. I kept my distance though; if she felt uncomfortable around me I wasn’t going to force it. Regardless of how beautiful she is or how oddly drawn to her I was.

As I sat there, finishing my third and most likely last beer, I saw a man approach her from across the bar. He was much older, blatantly drunk, and forcefully hitting on her. I didn’t want to step in, but I kept my eye on them. After she turned him down a few times, he still remained persistent and started to put his arm around her, touching her inappropriately. That’s when I decided he needed to go.

I walked up and started to actually hear the conversation.

“No!” she yelped. “I am not going home with you now please let me go!” But this was the first time I noticed that she was drunk also. She was slurring her words and swaying; an easy target for this guy.

    1. Ashley seems nice and sincere. Spencer is interesting. I’m curious about her story and if she’s trying to drink away something she’s not ready to face.
