Strange & Beautiful – (Chapter: And So It Begins)

Madison was alone. Just like always. Unless Glen was around groping her, or her minions were around suffocating her. She hated always feeling friendless. Yeah, she had a posse of bitches who’d do whatever the hell she said, but none of them were actual good friends. They only wanted to use her for their gain, to work their way up the high school social ladder, by dragging on the coat tails of Madison Duarte. That hurt. She could only remember once when she actually had a real friend. It of course was Ashley.

“How did we get here?” Madison thought to herself.

“Me.” She spoke dryly taking full blame of the deterioration of her once honest friendship with Ashley Davies.

They’d been best friends since about fifth grade. Now she could barely walk pass Ashley without making a snide remark. Honestly she just wanted a reason to talk to Ashley again. She masked her guilt by being extra bitchy. She didn’t even know why she’d gotten mad at Ashley in the first place. She didn’t even like Aiden, but the fact that he and Ashley were dating burned Madison up. Once Ashley moved onto girls Madison was even more upset. Naturally she believed her contempt was caused by her disdain of homosexuality. However she’d never had a problem with it until Ashley came to terms with her sexuality. So what could explain the sudden resentment?

Now a days she began to feel like it was something more. Not actual feelings for Ashley, but jealously. Maybe she was jealous because while Ashley could so easily and eloquently flaunt her sexuality, she couldn’t come to terms with her own identity. Who was she? She didn’t feel like finding the real answer.  Instead she’d drown her self in endless nights with aspiring NBA stars, or NFL hopefuls. What a life? What a fucking life?

Now sitting alone in her room staring at the Marilyn Monroe poster that hung on her lime green wall, Madison sulked. She knocked her head against the headboard as she pulled her knees up under her chin. Today sucked. Everyday sucked, but today was really bad.

Now she had to worry about that new girl Rebecca trying to come onto her. She really didn’t feel like dealing with that. She wasn’t into girls. That was simple and obvious. Shit? Who was she kidding? Madison knew she was probably going to ooze like putty.
