Since Birth – (Chapter: 84: Who Would Have Guessed?)

Ashley: “You don’t think I’ve tried that already?”

Aiden: “Try harder then.” He says sternly. “If you move Spencer will be devastated.”

Ashley: “I know that…I know.” I say as tears trickle down my face. Julia and Lori come over and hug me.

Aiden: “Damn it!” He shouts punching the door and denting it, making everyone jump. I’m surprised at how hard he’s taking it.

    Julia: “Aiden!”

Aiden: “I’m sorry.” He says frustrated, pacing the floor. He runs his fingers through his hair, exhaling loudly, then comes over and kneels down in front of me.

Aiden: “Ashley, I know we pretend to hate each other, but I really do like you as a friend. You’re so great for Spencer, you make her so happy. Seeing her face light up when she’s around you…it’s just right. If you leave, it won’t only hurt us, but it’ll destroy her. She’ll break.”

Ashley: “I need you to do me a favor then.” I say looking at him, he nods. “All of you.” I say looking at Julia and Lori.

    Julia: “What?”

Lori: “Anything.” Aiden doesn’t say anything.

Ashley: “If things don’t change, and I end up really having to move, then just…just take care of her for me. Watch her, cheer her up if she gets really depressed about it.”

Aiden: “You’re already giving up.” He says, his voice shaky.

Julia: “Aiden, don’t.” She says softly.

Ashley: “No, I’m not Aiden. I’m just saying, if things fall through-” He cuts me off.

Aiden: “You’re talking like it’s over, like you’re already gone!”

Ashley: “I’m seventeen Aiden!!! My mom controls my life until I turn eighteen!!! What the hell do you want me to do?!! All I can do is talk to her, so don’t jump down my throat!!! I’ve already got enough people doing that!” I yell, frustrated with him. “I know you mean well, but this isn’t helping me.” I say, calming down.

He runs his fingers through his hair frustrated. He comes over and hugs me. It feels weird, but it’s comforting. Aiden and I were never close, but I guess it when things turn to crap, that’s when you see how people truly feel.

Aiden: “I’m sorry.” He whispers in my ear. I wrap my arms around his neck and cry into his shoulder.
