She’s into me, Right? – (Chapter: Innocent Flirting and Small Talk)
Alone with Spencer in a dark movie theater? Sounds like fun.
“Count me in. But Aiden has to pay for my ticket since he gets to enjoy my company.” Ashley answered.
“Hey, unfair.” Aiden said. “What about Spencer? Why doesn’t she have to pay?”
Ashley got up from her seat and stood closer to Spencer, one hand on her shoulder.
“Cos Spence, here, is my friend, unlike you. You know what? You can pay for her ticket, too.” She glanced down at Spencer and she just looked enraptured. Ashley was sure she had a similar expression on her face. Aiden scowled.
As much as she hated to admit it, Ashley knew she had to leave. She didn’t need some weird pervert to steal all her thongs. She grimaced at the thought.
She glanced at her watch. “I’ll have to catch you later, guys. My clothes are calling. Aid, I’ll call you so I know when and where to meet you guys.” Slowly Ashley backed out of the restaurant. Spencer looked disappointed that Ashley had to leave so soon but excited at the thought of meeting her again. The two in the dinner just sat watched Ashley walk across the street and into the Laundromat.
Spencer was the first to break the silence.
“That was…different.”
“You have no idea.” Aiden muttered so softly that Spencer wasn’t sure if he was talking to himself or not.
“What do you mean?” Spencer didn’t know how to take his response.
“It’s just that that’s the most I’ve seen Ashley smile in a long time.” He looked over at her and the look on her face.
“It’s a good thing.” He said in response to the befuddlement written on Spencer’s face.
“She doesn’t smile a lot?” Spencer couldn’t believe it. Ashley had been smiling the whole time she was in the dinner.
“Nope. It’s probably you. She likes you a lot.”
That got a grin out of her.
“Really? You think?” She tilted her head to the side.
“Yeah, she told me so.”
“Wow…are you sure?
“You think I’m lying?” Aiden looked indignant.
“No, no, no. No way Aiden. Of course not. I believe you. I just don’t see why she would want to be with me.”
Aiden smirked. “I don’t see why either.”
He got a slap on the arm. “Shut up!”
“I’m just kidding. You’re great.”
Spencer continued to pout.
“What do you want? Compliments?”
Spencer nodded like a sulky five year old.
“Well you’re not getting’ any.”
Spencer gave him the look. Maybe it would work this time.
He looked at her skeptically but sighed and proceeded to suck up.
“Spencer Carlin. You are the most wonderful girl I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. You’re smart, funny, beautiful, and above all else, a hot piece of ass. Do you want me to go on?”
“No, that’s fine. But expect me to ask you to do that at anytime. You’re still not off the hook.” Spencer stood up and started to leave.
“What’re you doing, Spence?”
“Leaving you with the bill. See you tomorrow night.” She winked at him and was gone.
He sat there speechless and glanced at the total.
$7.33 for three cups of coffee!?!? Ridiculous….
