“Really? Then I wonder what Julian would think if he found out what I’d caught you doing – twice,” I said, my voice innocent, my eyes blazing. If looks could kill she’d be in a smoldering pile on the floor, rank smoke rising from what was left of her.
“Fuck off, you’ve no proof!” she spat.
“I don’t need any,” I sighed, “he trusts me more than anyone else here… plus it makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? It’s the obvious reason as to why we’ve lost every major contract over the last few years to H&W.”
“Okay,” she said, her voice stronger than it should have been over the realisation that she’s been foiled. “So what do you propose we do about this… ‘predicament’ we seem to have found ourselves in?”
“What predicament?” I laughed. “It’s simple – you’re fucking over DJC. End of!”
“And you’re using Spencer,” she stated. I knew what she was threatening, only she thought that our odds were even. Yes, me losing Spencer would hurt like hell, maybe even break my heart all over again – but I could destroy Carrie, and she didn’t quite understand the full extent to which I could manage it… yet.
“So are you,” I pointed out.
“So… it seems we both lose if any of this comes out,” she concluded.
“I don’t care about Spencer,” I lied. “You’re the only one who stands to lose everything.”
“Bullshit,” she laughed. “I’ve seen the way you look at her… the incessant glances, the way you blush around her, how jealous you get when I’m with her… you can’t stand it! You’re pathetic.”
I felt the anger rising and tensed by fists below the desk, but I refused to show her any of it. I couldn’t lose the upper hand and as much as she thought she was gaining some control over me, I could see that she was nervous as hell. Sweat beads were even forming on her brow which, as I watched her, she tried to subtly wipe away.
“You’re wrong,” I sighed with a smile. “And you’re so fired when Julian hears about this.”
She clenched her jaw and rose her chin nonchalantly, but I knew I’d gotten the better of her.
“You tell him, and I’ll tell Spencer everything I know about you,” she threatened, “and all the sordid details about this little bet our most reputable of companies has going on under the surface.”

she got away with it….for now. but everything has a way of catching up with us. its only a matter of time. ha i sound like spashley hater, im not i swear. i was just saying haha. anyways brilliant, as you always are. cant wait for another update :]
Erm…crap. That sounded like one of those “perfect plans” that always end up backfiring. So I predict: Spencer finds out somehow, there’s a ton of drama like always, then there’s some forgiving going on even though spencer won’t want to, annd then they’ll end up together. But that’s just how things always go. Maybe you’ll come up with something more interesting.

Oh thank goodness Carrie doesn’t have a brain. I just hope that she doesn’t somehow magically grow one…the “ah well” she sighed out at end sounded slightly ominous. Maybe I’m just being paranoid? Either way, loved the post.
