“Yes I know, I didn’t understand what you wanted to know. But he was doing everything so well. I figured a happy face would best express his progress.” She was so proud of her system that I couldn’t help but laugh

“That is certainly an interesting code” I smiled at her

“Yes well im an interesting woman Dr. Carlin”

“I’ve noticed.” Our eyes locked in what felt like the most intense moment of my entire life. But all good things come to and end. As we were interrupted by a small knock and then the door opened

“If it isn’t my two favorite ladies in the whole wide world” Kyla has really has bad timing

“That smile can only mean one thing, what do you want Kyla?” Ashley snapped, perhaps she was enjoying the moment just as much as me.

“Well, now that you ask I could use an expert envelope stuffer for a little bit.”

Ashley rolled her eyes and starting making her way out. Not before I heard her mumble to Kyla “That’s the price I pay for being a professional licker”

With that little statement the dirty little devils in my mind started having themselves a field day.

I was in a daze with my afternoon client. I tried to focus but it just was not happening.  Finally 3 o’clock came and I took my lunch break. I stuck a lean cuisine meal in the microwave and sat down. The ding signaled that it was finished; I retrieved it and began to dig in.

“Eww.”

“Ash, I didn’t know you were still here”

“I didn’t know you enjoyed eating cardboard.”

“Its chicken parmagiana! And it’s only 80 calories”

“Its cardboard and you can eat anything and still look good”

I knew I was blushing right away, but even if I couldn’t feel it the look on her face said it all.

“I’ll have to give you my recipe, and then you can have some real chicken parm”

“I’m no Rachael Ray”

“Well then I have a proposition for you”

“I’m not use to being propositioned so early in the day” now it was her turn to blush.

“How about I come to your place some time this week and make you a real meal?”

“what’s in it for you?”

“Your company of course” she smiled a big goofy grin. Too big. She gave herself up.

“I don’t buy it Davis; I think you’re up to something”

“Well, in addition to your company it would give me some time out of the house, Kyla’s house to be specific. I love her, but working and living with her is driving me nuts”

“Okay you have yourself a deal”

The next few hours were spent with a huge smile on my face; I couldn’t get rid of it if you paid me. I was walking out to the front office when I over heard my name. I knew it was wrong, but I started to listen very close to Kyla and Ashley.

“She said it was a date?”

“No. Not in those words, but it is so a date.”

“What were her exact words?”

“She said “it’s a deal” but kyla you didn’t hear the way she said it”

“It sounds to me like you have a deal Ash, not a date.”

“No way, she was flirting with me too, I didn’t imagine it”

“Why do you just assume everyone is gay? You see a cute girl and all the sudden your gaydar is on full blast, some of us still like penis you know”

“I don’t always assume. She is gay, she has to be. Isn’t she?”

“Nope.”

“You’re such a liar Ky”

“I’ve known her for 2 years, she is straight Ashley.”

“Well then I guess I have a date with a straight girl”

There conversation trailed off as I made my way back into my office. My brief joy was now over taken with bewilderment. Why the fuck would Kyla tell her sister I’m straight?
