“oh…I had more…” I told her and she laughed at me

“if we were dating for like five months I’d be creeped out…” she said

“but we’ve been together how long now?” I asked her

“not including that stupid four month break? A year and seven months, and a week…” she told me

“wow…even getting specific…” I said making fun of her then my roommate walked in

“hey…” she said “…I’m Brooke” the five foot four brunette said extending her hand

“hey I’m Ashley…” I said shaking her hand then I helped her with her suit cases cause she looked a little overwhelmed “…this is um…my girlfriend Spencer…” I said stuttering from the lifting

“oh…hey” she said shaking Spencer’s hand

“hi…you from out of state?” Spencer asked her

“yeah…I’m from Florida…” she told us

“oh really? What part?” Spencer asked her sitting on my bed

“um…Orlando…where are you guys from?” she asked

“oh um…Los Angeles…” I told her “…my parents actually have a house in florida…not Orlando though…Long Boat Key…”

“oh! We have a house their…well a condo because it’s near the beach and well…Orlando’s not…” she said laughing a little “…so you two are like…dating?” she asked

“uh yeah…over a year now” I told her

“that’s cute…do both of you go here?” she asked

“nope…I go to UCLA…” Spencer told her

“oh! I almost went there…but I picked up a softball scholarship so…” she said

“oh I’m here on a softball scholarship too…” I told her

“oh really? Wait…oh man how could I forget! You’re Ashley Davies” she said “wow I feel so dumb”

“don’t be…” I told her laughing “…so then you’re um…shortstop Brooke Witter?” I asked

“yep…that’d be me…” she said “I feel honored in the presence of California’s state champ pitcher…” she told me

“uhm I feel the same way” I said “yeah we made all American together” she said

“yeah…so it’s like we’re teammates already…except not”

“exactly” I said laughing

About an hour later Spencer and I were walking around campus getting a feel for everything, and we found this spot that overlooked the ocean…it was so amazing.

“I’m gonna miss you” I told her wrapping my arms around her waist as she sat between my legs

“I’m gonna miss you too…but at least now we’re in the same state” she told me looking up

“yeah” I replied kissing her

“hey…did Aiden ever get mad at you for not recording that song with him?” she asked me

“um…no he wont record it until I do it with him…” I told her

“then maybe you should just do it with him…you know when you can come home for a weekend…” she told me “…you really should’ she added

“eh…I’ll think about it…” I told her

Jump with your heart or your mind…it seems easy, because our conscious often leads our decision making and that’s in our minds…so when does our heart step up and tell us how it is. Why can’t our heart just say ‘I’m right, your head is wrong!’ I mean, that would make everything so much easier right? Well, hopefully for all of us that day will come, we need to separate our heads with our gut feeling…because our gut feeling in those situations of love is our heart telling us to stay or go. Sometimes you have to listen to your gut, and just remember regret is a pain in your heart you will always remember.
