Not The Type 2: Established – (Chapter: Chapter 5)
“No.” Next thing I know we’re playing tug-a-war with the blanket, Brooke and I against Ashley. Ashley gets mad and let’s go of the blanket. “Spencer, get up.” She whines.
“Why Ashley?” I mumble into my pillow. “Go bother someone else.”
“Because it’s two in the Afternoon. That’s why.” She comes over and lies next to me on the bed. “My mom’s coming home at six and the house is a mess. Plus, we have to pick up the girls in a little while.”
“Where’s Jordan?” Brooke asks, resting her head back on my shoulder.
“Down stairs cuddling on the couch with Michael.”
“Aww…that’s cute.” Brooke coos. “I was trying to do that with your wife before you interrupted.” Brooke grins and kisses me on the cheek.
“Whatever.” Ashley pushes Brookes head off my shoulder. “Get up.”
The house is looking good. Taylor cleaned the living room before she left and Ashley had already picked up the yard and the halls. Brooke and I just had to help do everything else. The kitchen was the last thing we had to do.
“I can make the seven o’clock meeting if I leave tonight…” Brooke and I have just walked back into the kitchen from taking out the trash. Ashley sitting at the breakfast bar playing with the paper towel holder and talking on the phone. “Let me see what I can do and I’ll call you back….okay…bye.”
“What’s up?” I ask sliding onto the stool next to her.
“I have to go to New York for…” She stops talking when I roll my eyes. “Spencer?”
“What?” I sigh and rest my face in my hands.
This will be the second time this week she’s gotten a phone call and had to run out of town for work. I know she has a business, and she’s starting a new project but all the short notice is annoying.
“Awkward.” Brooke mumbles. “I’ll be up stairs showering.”
“Hey…” Ashley pokes me in the side once Brookes out of the room. “Come with me?”
“No thanks.”
“Come on, my mom or your parents can watch the girls.”
“No. I have to work.” I turn my face to look at her. Ashley has her thinking face on. She knows that I’m annoyed and is trying to find away to make it better. “Ash…” I interrupted when she opens her mouth to talk. “It’s okay.”
