North of Somewhere (A Short Continuation) – (Chapter: WWSD?)

“Should we go in there? I mean, she’s been in there for like, hours now,” Ashley whispered as she and Aiden stood outside the door of Spencer’s bedroom.

“I don’t know. Maybe she wants to be by herself.”

“Yeah, but she’s been by herself for a really long time.”

“Ashley, I know you want the scoop on what’s going on with her and Lindsay, but we have to respect Spencer’s privacy. If she wanted a friend, she would let us know.”

“Maybe she’s too upset to let us know. Maybe she’s just in there waiting for someone to walk through that door and comfort her. Or maybe she’s in there tying sheets together and making plans to hang herself from the ceiling fan or something. Did you think about that Aiden? Huh? Did you?”

“I’m not sure there is a ceiling fan…”

“Aiden! That’s not the point! She’s a Carlin for Christ’s sake. She’s probably trying to overdose on Flinstone’s Vitamins and we’ve got to stop her,” Ashley exclaimed, pounding her finger into Aiden’s chest.

“How much did you drink last night, Ash?”

“Forget it, I’m going in…with or without you!”

Ashley opened Spencer’s door and walked inside. Spencer was typing something on her laptop, but put it down on the bed next to her when she saw her concerned friend’s face.

“Ashley, what’s up? You still haven’t learned how to knock after all these years,” Spencer said with a smile, gesturing for the brunette to take a seat next to her.

“I just wanted to make sure you were ok. We all heard you and Lindsay this morning and I was worried that you were in here doing something stupid.”

Spencer laughed, “You mean, you were worried I was doing something you would do?”

“Very funny,” Ashley replied, taking a seat, “do you want to talk about it?”

“I don’t know where to begin. She dumped me. She talked about you…said we think the world revolves around us or something—which is true for you.”

“I’m glad you have such a sense of humor after all of this.”

“And um, she said we need to get back together so that we don’t bring our regrets into our future relationships.”

“Do you have any regrets? About us, I mean,” Ashley asked, avoiding eye contact with the blonde.
