No Longer Roommates, But Mates. – (Chapter: Make Way for The Married Life!)
“Yeah. Of course I do.” I said, blushing. “You wanted to be my lover. This is where you asked me to be, 7 years ago. I think-” I paused, and then decided to tell her. “I think you said you loved me.” “Yeah I loved you then, and I love you now.” “It’s been a very long 7 years, Spence. Longer than I wanted it to be, but still a very good time together with you.” I stiffened. “What are you trying to say, Ash?” “Spencer, I’ve wanted to ask you this for a very long time, and I’ve had to wait all these 7 years until you got out of medical school and we could have all that out of the way and everything. I wanted to be sure we could last, that we truly are meant to be, that-” “That you wouldn’t leave me again.” She said quietly. “And you’ve proved that. I know a lot of relationships don’t make it when people go to medical school, because of all the work, and all the stress, but-” she took a deep breath. “Spencer Marie Carlin, will you marry me?” she asked, suddenly getting down on one knee in the sand and taking my hand. Her other hand produced the biggest diamond ring I’d ever seen, encased in a small box.
Ashley’s POV:
Today’s the day. I was ecstatic this entire month, knowing that she’d soon get out of med school. I’ve been waiting for this day. I’ve wanted this for a long time. I played with the velvet box in my hand the entire last few months. You might b wondering, why wait 7 year? Why even wait for her to get out of med school? Why didn’t I just ask her to marry me while she was still in med school? Because I anted to be sure we were meant to be. A lot of relationships don’t last in medical school. I can see why. There’s the stress, all that work they’re swamped with, and there is simply not a lot of time for boyfriends or girlfriends. Trust me, when Spencer got into med school, I found myself having to make time for us in any way I could. But being me, you could bet that I came up creative ideas… and that I often ‘distracted’ her from her studies. Hehe. Hey, I can’t help it if I’m so irresistible, right? Or that I’m the best seductress out there… Spencer often accused me of trying to get her to fail med school with all my ‘antics’. But I know she’s glad I helped her find time for us. Not to mention the love between us is so great; something like med school can’t possibly ruin us.
I looked up into her azure eyes, grinning at how she was giving me that look. That look that was reserved just for me, and only me. The look of love and pure joy and happiness in her eyes. “Yes, Ashley Davies, I WILL MARRY YOU!” she yipped happily, bowling me over on the sand in a hug while burying her face in my neck. “Perfect.” I said into her hair, picking her up in my arms and running off towards the water to get ourselves as soaking wet as possible in celebration. What could be better, right? I was finally going to get married to the love of my life.
