“But I should’ve done a better job…” She shakes her head and chuckles lightly

“I should be the one apologizing. I’ve been a jerk but I just cant bear to see you get hurt and watch everything you’ve worked so hard on crumble..” I wrap my arms around her in a hug and feel her hug me back tighter.

“I love her Max…” I hear her sigh and I step back.

“Is she worth it?” I nod my head.

“Then I guess I have no choice..i’ll stand by you when the shit hit’s the fan.” I smile a little

“Thank you..” She shrugs and smile

“No problem sis.” I ruffle her hair and sit down on her bed.

“There’s been a change of plans.” She sits next to me listening carefully

“Paula knows there’s a hit on her which is why she’s been taking out operatives. She also knows that me and you are here to kill her and she’s also the one who sent the mugger to take me out.”

“But that doesn’t make sense. Why not wait till me and you are together and take the both of us out.”

“I guess she figured we’d be weaker separate. She most likely sent the soldier to take me out first then would’ve had him come kill you.”

“So what now? Did you tell Jesse?”

“Yea I told her, at first she wanted us to pack up and go back home but I convinced her to hand the mission over to me so I can deal with it my way. She gave us a month.” She stands up punching a fist in her hand

“Hell yea Ash now we can go kill the bitch then torch Shadow Labs.” I stare at the ball of fire that appeared in her hand. I shake my head

“Not that simple. As you already heard I’m not allowed to see Spencer anymore.” She extinguishes the fireball.

“So?”

“I have to atleast see her and tell her I love her before..” I close my eyes when I cant even finish the sentence. What am I going to say to her. I feel the bed shift beside me
