Next Time Around – (Chapter: Waves against the rock.)

"I dont feel like going to class." ashley said answering spencers question before she asked it. "Can we just go somewhere to sit until the doctors appointment?" Ashley asked spencer hoping to have her blessing and have her by her side.

Spencer thought it over. Could she really risk getting caught skipping? But ashley was her girlfriend and like it or not she needed spencer to be with her. Spencer gave in with a slight smile and a soft tone. "of course we can."

They gathered there things and left the school building. Ashley was not in a good enough mood to care if they got caught, so she walked at random speed and they got to her car successfully. They pulled away from the school zone and the second they did ashley opened up the glove compartment and pulled out a rectangular package. It was box like and she lifted the top of it while steering with her wrists. She pulled out a cigarette and lit it with the lighter she had hidden inside the pack.

Spencer sat there shockfully watching as ashley began to suck on the cancer stick like it was candy. "Since when do you smoke?" Spencer asked. All she got from ashley was a simple shrug of her shoulders. Spencer looked away. She didnt want to get upset with ashley at a time like this. So she tried to talk to her the calmest way she knew how.

Spencer reached over to ashleys lips and pulled the cigarette from her mouth and rolled down her passenger side window throing the cigarette to the road. "Look, ashley." spencer said calmy. "I know we dont know anything yet, but if you are…" Spencer stumbled to say the word. "preg- pre- pregnant, you cant be smoking. Its not healthy for you or the baby. Okay?" Spencer began sounding like she was the one adapting the maternal instinct.

Ashley didnt speak for a moment. Once she was at a stop sign she turned and smiled at spencer. "if it was anyone else, i would have lit up another one by now." Ashley said through her smile that was more than painfully obviouse it was fake. "but I know that you really care about me. So, ill quit." Ashley didnt like the idea of quitting. It was the only thing that kept her sane before spencer. SO now that she had spencer, what is the point of smoking anyways?
