My Hero – (Chapter: Heat Pt.2)

“Spencer, that’s not what you think-” “Ashley, do me a favor and stop trying to lie to me. I saw you two with my own eyes.” I replied grimly. “I’m not trying to lie, Spencer. It’ just, that- that wasn’t really me.” “What do you mean that wasn’t really you, Ashley?! Do you have some evil twin running around hooking up with random girls on the street?” “What I mean is that that’s not who I really am.” She said quietly, staring at the ground. “What the hell does that mean? Ashley, I saw you. You can’t tell me that’s not who you really are.” “It isn’t, though. I-, I can’t explain.” She stuttered. “Fine. Then don’t. I thought you were really into me, Ashley. But now I know that all you want is my body.” I turned and walked away from her as quickly as I could, leaving her crestfallen in the middle of the park.

      Ashley’s POV:

Shit. How did she see me? I slumped down on a bench after I watched her walk away from me as fast as she could. I knew I could catch her no matter how fast she ran, but what good would that do me when I didn’t even know what to say? I put my head in my hands and sighed. Heat had totally screwed me over. I stared sadly at the roses I had gotten for her. This is the closest I’ve ever been to shedding a tear since I was what, six? I didn’t cry, ever. It was just a weakness, in my mind. For super soldiers in that experiment crying was considered a sign of mental weakness. We were altered to control our emotions. Nothing came first except for the mission. This girl has screwed me up. I was feeling all these strong emotions threatening to make me expose my secrets to her. But I know I can never do such a thing. I think things are officially ruined between us now. What was I supposed to do, tell her how I kissed that girl on the street and disappeared for an entire week? “I went through a terrible heat cycle, so I had to protect you by fucking other girls instead?” First of all, fat chance she’d believe me, and second of all, she’d most likely slap me.

    5. i wish ash would come out and tell spencer because if she finds out any other way well than it’s going to be hard to make it up to her for not trusting her…
