Ashley went back to Spencer’s bedside.  She caressed Spencer’s face and took Spencer’s hand into her own.  “I miss you so much that you have no idea how hard it is to go on without you,” Ashley began sadly.  “I feel like I am slowly dying as well with every passing second that I see you attached to these damn machines.  I already feel a h-hole in my heart that used to be complete when you were around.  I didn’t even realize that there was an empty space inside of me until we stopped talking last year.  You c-can’t be gone.  It’s not your time yet.  I need you here with me before I completely fall apart so you could make it a-all better.  The time we had together as a couple wasn’t enough not even our friendship wasn’t enough.  I’ll pretty much do anything to have you back here with me since having you comatose isn’t really working out for me.  Y-you need to be okay so I could hold you in my arms and hug you and kiss you.  I need to see your beautiful blue eyes that I could always swear that I am drowning in.  This can’t be the end for us.  I’m trying to be s-strong and to stay strong, but I can’t fool anyone anymore. I just w-wish I could turn back time so I would be able to save you from the wrath of my psychotic ex-girlfriend stabbing you and attempting to drown you and things would be different.”  Ashley sighed in exasperation.  “If anyone should be in this hospital bed right now, it s-should be me, not you.  Me… I shouldn’t have taken Melody’s threat so lightly that day.  I needed to protect you.”  There were more tears streaming down Ashley’s cheeks.  “Prove those doctors wrong for me, alright?  I would be damned if they were right about you not coming back to me.  Sure, you lost blood, but you’ll pull through this and I’ll be there with you.  You’re not alone in this thing, I promise.”  Ashley sniffled.  “I’m always going to be here to take care of you.”  The nurse entered the hospital room.

“Visiting hours are over, miss,” pointed out the nurse.  “You’re going to have to go home and you could come back to visit your friend tomorrow morning.”
