It had been a torturous week for Spencer. Every morning she told herself that she would stay home and explain to Aiden what was going on and how she felt, but every morning the words wouldn’t play correctly in her mind and she would give up. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be up front and honest with Aiden, he deserved that much but it was that she couldn’t force herself to break his heart. On top of it all, she had been hiding out at Ashley’s house every day for the entire week. On the days Ashley didn’t have to work, they hardly made it out of the bedroom. So not only had Spencer lied to Aiden, but she had been piling on more and more lies.
It was Monday morning and Spencer was still in her own home pretending to ready herself for work. The home phone rang, but the blonde could hear Aiden’s voice echoing from the kitchen as he answered it. “Spencer, it’s for you.” Remembering what happened last time Spencer was on an important call and she didn’t know where Aiden was, she decided upon getting the phone he was using.
“Who is it?” She asked nicely as she leaned over the breakfast bar for the phone.
“It’s Mr. Fredrick. What’s wrong with the bedroom phone?”
“Uh, it’s dead.” She lied as she put the phone to her ear and took it to the bedroom. She figured that if she stayed in front of the bedroom phone and kept one phone to her ear, there would be no way Aiden could listen. “Hello Mr. Fredrick.”
“Misses Carlin” The urgent voice came over the receiver. “I thought you may want an update on things around here as far as the investigation goes.”
Here it was the one subject Spencer was itching to find out about, but didn’t want to talk about. It was one of those situations where nobody wins. “Uh, yeah, sure.” She replied nervously.
“Well, we had therapists come into the school and ask the students some questions to figure some things out and they finished a few days ago. It seems as though you were honest about one thing. The children are fine and have not been handled in any inappropriate manner.” A relief filled Spencer. She knew she hadn’t done anything wrong, but there was no telling what kind of things they could make up in their own heads.
“So when can I get back to work?” She asked. It was all she wanted to know. She loved being an elementary school teacher. It was one thing she was good at that she liked. Something about teaching kids how to read and how to use common sense when it came to eating glue was her passion.
There was a slight silence for a bit. “Well, that is something we need to discuss.”
“What do you mean ‘discuss’?” Spencer asked, her happiness now calmed to an average amount.
Mr. Fredrick sighed and cleared his throat as he tried to stall. The words had to come out some time or another. “Well, we ran into a bump with the parents. They don’t feel comfortable with you teaching their children. So what we would like to do is see about getting you to teach high school students. Preferably seniors.”
Spencer never wanted to teach high school. She knew what high school students were like, she used to be one. She would not be able to handle it and she didn’t want to try. “Um, I might have to get back to you on that.” She said.
“Very well, have a nice day misses Carlin.” This was the end and Spencer knew it. She had to do something about how things were going. The blonde found herself tiring of the same old routine of hiding at Ashley’s house from Aiden and keeping him in the dark just because she was scared of the outcome.
The blonde walked into the living room to find Aiden still in his pajamas in front of the tele watching football. There was no way she would be able to keep his attention for long unless…she walked in front of the screen and stared blankly at his face. “Spencer?” Aiden complained.
“Aiden, we need to talk.”

well. at least they’ve proved her innocent. like we all knew she would be…..wouldnt there be much more room for speculation if she was teaching 17/18 year old girls? if that in fact is what they are worried about. sucks that mess like that happens. but it does. every day every where. stand up spencer Fight The Hate!!
Lordie. Amazing post, I don’t even care if it was just one page long. I loved it. PMS. I just so glad that they didn’t charge Specer with any thing bad but her not being able to teach little kids sux. And in this comment I want to encourage Spencer to tell Aiden. You got this girl. Just take a deep breath and tell him everything. And: “On the days Ashley didn’t have to work, they hardly made it out of the bedroom.” I love that. *chuckles*

AH, a cliffy! I know them well. *sigh* So I’ve just spent the good part of two hours catching myself up on this lovely piece of fiction! I’m truly sorry I didn’t start reading it sooner, haven’t for the life of me understand why I didn’t…my mind is a weird thing. This fic is, wonderful! I’m loving it to the nth galexy and beyond!!! (I would’ve said infinity and beyond but that sounded too Buzz Lightyear-ish for me) I cannot WAIT for the next update! I hope Ashley gets a kick ass lawyer and their able to shove that stick the principal has even higher up his ass! Definately an ass hat!!! ARGH…totally pissed me off. But the relationship between Ashley and Spencer, *sigh* I wish I had that I’d be such a happy camper. And the note Ashley wrote to Spencer!!! I’m telling you I melted, just a big puddle of Andie on my carpet floor, not very fun to clean up. Alright I’m rambling so I will leave you with this one note: This fic means more to me than Peanut M&Ms, and thats saying something!!! ;)

Why does everybody have to be sippin on that haterade? I swear to buddha it’s one mother flipin thing after another..ONE LESS..why is it that to live in THIS world and even in the fictional world you have to generalize..oh i know! Because its easy..but what people fails to see..is that by generalizing and by closing your mind your only pulling yourself in deeper..pulling yourself as well as everybody else in a very very dark place…SuzyQ your are such an amazing writer..and the mirror you put up in your stories has a reflection..and everybody sees something different…and I personally like what I see…LOVE IT!! the fluffy kidds love it..and PMS..cause you LOVE me too!! ;)
