Mrs. Officer – (Chapter: Live Like You Were Dying)

“You’re a hero Ashley. If it wasn’t for you who knows what would have happened to all those hostages.”

I nodded respectively and continued to listen to what my boss had to say.

“Thankfully you got the robber’s accomplice close enough to the window where our snipers could get a clear shot.” I trembled at the memory of the loud gunshot ringing through my ears and I felt Aiden’s grip tighten. “Take the rest of the night off Ash and go home to that beautiful girl of yours, you deserve it.” And with a final pat to my shoulder, the chief headed back to crime scene.

“OH SHIT!” I yelled, tearing away from Aiden’s arms.

“What Ash?” Aiden asked a little startled by my random outburst.

“Spencer. I gotta check on Spencer!” I yelled back while I dashed to the Mustang.

I saw his eyes widen in realization once I was seated in the driver’s side.

"Here at least take my non-blood splattered shirt." He said taking his first layer of clothing off and throwing it to me.

    "Thanks!"

“Good lu-” His words got cut off when I slammed the door shut to my car and tromped on the gas.

I could only imagine what Spencer was thinking. How terrified she must have been, watching the whole bank pandemonium on a TV. And to make it worse I lied to her!

I made it to Spencer’s apartment in ten minutes and those were the scariest ten minutes of my life. I played out every possible scenario in my head of how Spencer would react when I would walk through her apartment door and I gotta say, I think it was more frightening than being held at gun point.

I took a deep breath as I approached the entrance to the apartments and luckily someone was leaving the building, so I wouldn’t have to buzz in and disturb the blonde. It was pretty late after all. Once I was in, I slowly made my way up the stairs, trying to think of how I would explain myself for earlier.

Reaching out to knock on her door, I noticed it was open a crack so I let myself into the dark apartment. A dim light shined through the bottom of Spencer’s bedroom door, I figured she had to be in there.
