Me & You – (Chapter: [1] Welcome To My Life)

“Babe, what are you doing? I told you I would get up when Jayden got hungry again.” I looked at the woman in front of me, and I was still as amazed as the day I met her – it’s those eyes, a deep crystal blue. They’re hypnotizing.

“I know you did, Ash, but he was crying for a couple minutes and I thought that it would be more beneficial to your son if I got up and fed him than if I waited for his brick of a mother to wake from the dead.” Spencer delivered this explanation with a playful smile.

    “Very funny.”

I waited as Spencer fed Jayden for another minute as I felt myself drifting back to sleep for what felt like minutes, but were really hours. When I felt the sun shining through my eyelids later in the morning, I picked my head up from my pillow and got out of bed to start breakfast. As I was scrambling the eggs, Spencer came downstairs. I turned around to meet her and kissed her good morning. I took Jayden in my arms and kissed his forehead as well before I bent to place him in his highchair.

Jayden is turning two this year; I had him when I was twenty – at the beginning of mine and Spencer’s relationship. Everyday I look at my son and I see my eyes looking back at me. Jayden has a couple of my features – my eyes, and my nose, but on top of that I can already tell that he is going to have my attitude. The only part of my son that saddens me to think of is that he also looks like his father. Jayden has my ex-boyfriend’s smile and his hair – his dark brown, uncontrollable but so perfectly placed, long locks. The good thing about it is that neither Aiden nor I can be considered anything less than good-looking, so Jayden stands a great chance of continuing to be the cutest kid in the world.

“Honey, do you want bacon and sausage with your eggs?” Spencer’s voice interrupted my thoughts as she was serving the breakfast.

“No thanks babe, I made those for you and Jay. I’ll just have eggs and toast, I’m not very hungry.”

My trip down memory lane ended during breakfast, I took all that time to focus solely on my family now, the best things in my life. Spencer has been with me since even before my pregnancy. We became friends while Aiden and I were still dating, and before I conceived, and things progressed through the years.

I remember first seeing her while I was working, Spencer and her friend were among the many fans that I can come to see the artist signed to my label. I remember her coming up to the table I standing behind, smiling and giggling. Her smile was as addicting as her eyes, and for a minute I forgot that she was excited to see Ember, and not me. So they had gotten their pictures taken, and were given autographs, and were heading on their way when I realized that I had to say something … somehow, I had to get this girl to see me again. And after many tries and attempts, I was able to do it. I knew at that point I had to be friends with this girl. I was also aware that Aiden would be in the way.

“So, today we need to visit my parents and look that day care center for Jayden” Spencer came into our bedroom where I had zoned out, yet again, after breakfast was finished. Her voice once again brought me back to reality.

“Of course, Babe, What time are they expecting us?”

“My parents invited us for dinner around six and the day care arranged to meet with us around twelve-thirty.” I looked at the clock as Spence gave me the days’ schedule and saw that it was only nine-thirty now. I offered to play with Jayden some more downstairs, and allow her the first shower, so she took herself upstairs and I walked back into the living room.
