Lasting Impressions – (Chapter: One- Grown Apart)

Dialing the number she already knew by heart Spencer held the phone to her ear, beginning to pack up her things to leave. Hearing the cheerful “Hey!” answer on the other line was enough to make her grin as she slung her bag over her shoulder and exited the cramped room, heading towards the modest car parked out in front of the building. “I just got your message. And yeah, I am still coming over for dinner.” She was a bit distracted as she fumbled in her purse for keys.

“Actually, I was thinking we could go out for dinner. I kinda sorta neglected to go grocery shopping today like I intended, and I realllly don’t feel like cooking.” Lily suggested, sitting cross-legged on her couch and flipping through television channels as she spoke.
“Going out sounds nice too.” Spencer agreed, slipping into her car and twisting the ignition till the engine took, “Anywhere in particular that you had in mind Hun?”
Lily smiled, always impressed by Spencer’s flexibility, and in more ways than one. “We haven’t gone to that low key place downtown for a while. What’s it called, Mr. Cho’s?”
The blonde haired girl shrugged as she backed out of the lot and headed towards her home, “Kay, say 7 o’clock? Gives me time to change and clean up.”
Lily, a brunette, nodded and smiled into the receiver, a smile wide enough for Spencer to be able to hear it in her voice, “Kay. Love ya Spence.”
“Love you too.” Spencer hung up, still smiling as she set her phone in the cup holder. She and Lily had been together for a year now, and so far she was the least dysfunctional relationship that she had had yet.

Pulling into her driveway she parked and exited the vehicle, eager to get inside and clean up. Nothing like a hot date with your hot girl friend to spice up your evening. After a brisk shower, a change into a pair of well fitting jeans and a black tank top, and a quick brushing of the teeth she was refreshed and ready to go.

A journalist. Who on earth would have ever thought that Ashley Davies would become a journalist? And, to top it off, she was a successful one at that. In fact, tonight she was going out with friends to a Chinese restaurant in celebration of her article being published in Rolling Stone magazine. It was a big deal, needless to say, and the curly haired woman was fiercely excited to take this new step in her life.
