“You too,” Spencer said.

            I followed Kyla to the door and shut it behind her. Spencer and I sat on the couch in my room and watched the first movie. Half way through it, Spencer leaned over and laid her head on my lap. I smiled and played with her hair a little as the movie finished. I looked down at her and smiled.

            “Are you hungry?” I asked.

            “Yeah,” she said.

            “Ok,” I smiled. “I’ll order a couple pizzas. What do you like?”

            “Pepperoni,” she said.

            “Hand me my phone please,” I said. She reached onto the table and handed it to me. I called and got the pizza ordered. “It’ll be about half an hour.”

            “Sweet,” she said. “Can I ask you something?”

            “Sure,” I said. “Ask away.”

            Spencer sat up and looked at me. “Do you believe in love at first sight?” she asked.

            “I always thought it was a ridiculous concept,” I said. “I mean it’s hard to think that you can fall in love with someone when you first meet them. But now I do believe in it. I think there’s a certain person that everyone has their ‘love at first sight’ moment with.”

            “Wow,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard it explained that way. That was a great choice of words.”

            “Do you believe in it?” I asked.

            “Yes,” she said. “But I’m a big romantic. Not until recently did it happen, but I’ve waited for the day when it would happen.”

            “So there’s something I wanna do while I have the guts,” I said softly. I started leaning forward slowly. Spencer had the same idea. We were both slowly leaning in. We were inches apart. I could feel her breath on my lips. We were getting closer.

            “Ash,” Kyla said barging in, “have you ordered the pizza yet? I’m starving.”

            Spencer and I jumped to separate ends of the couch, both turning bright red. “Yes Kyla,” I said, annoyed. “It should be here in a little while.”

            “Oh my gosh,” Kyla said. “I’m so sorry. I should have knocked first.”

            “You think?” I said.

            “Sorry,” she said again. She started backing out of the room. “Let me know when the pizza is here.”
