It’s Not Over
It’s Not Over
She sat there, on the cold, damp ground, just staring at the stone in front of her. The sky was dark; a depressing grey and black. The sun was hidden for, what seemed like, an indefinite amount of time. The clouds were heavy with yet another torrential downpour. Strange for L.A. But it’s rained a lot since that day.
“How could this have happened?” she asked, knowing she’d never get an answer.
If you asked her how long she’d been there she wouldn’t be able to tell you. But even when she left this literal boulevard of broken dreams, she was still alone. Utterly and completely alone. She had been ever since that night. The night her world ended and she lost the girl she loved and a sibling she loved even more. Prom night.
“Damn you Aiden…” she growled, tearing her eyes away from the stone.
This was all his fault. He had to be selfish. He couldn’t let them be. Sure they had their problems. What couple didn’t? but they were still happy. Hopelessly in love. He couldn’t handle it though. He lied when he said he was happy for them. Playing up the ‘Good Guy’ persona he’d built up over time. Well, guess what? He lost that persona he so pain stakingly built in a matter of seconds.
“Idiot.”
And he is. He had Ashley and lost her. He had Spencer and lost her. Hell, he even managed to lose Madison. Now that’s saying something. But he had Kyla; beautiful, gentle, funny Kyla. He had her more so than any of the other three. And what did he do? He lost her too. He was selfish and just used Kyla to try and worm his way back into Ashley’s life; or more precisely, her heart and bed. Ashley, for whatever reason, didn’t want to see it. Or maybe she just couldn’t, because if she had she would’ve stopped it before he even did what he did.
How many times did she refer to him as ‘family’? Countless. How many times did she tell him that to his face? Again, countless. He knew she was gay. Hell, she practically wore a sign around her neck stating that fact. Perhaps he didn’t know the definition of those two words. No, that couldn’t be it. Granted he’s a boy, but no boy is that dumb. No, he knew what he was doing all along.
