I Promise… – (Chapter: Who In The World Is Chauncey?)

    ‘Spencer-

Me again! want to sit together at lunch, too?’

She wrote me back a reply of ‘yes’ and on class went. Lunch went smoothly with Kyla and Aiden. After school we drove to my house, Kyla sat in the back.

"Dad, why is there no food in Chaunceys bowl?!"

"Maybe because he ate it?" My dad said, coming into the kitchen.. "So, Ash, who’s your friend?"

"Dad, this is Spencer.. Spencer, this is my dad."

    "Hi." She said quietly.

"She’s new at King so I thought I would grace her with my friendship."

Spencer and I went up to my room.

Me, her and Aiden started hanging out all the time.

Not the best story, but hey, it sound pretty damn perfect to me. When she woke up, she smiled when she noticed I was still holding her. She was holding on to Teddy, her tatters old teddy bear, and the Spongebob I got her for Christmas. I remember when I first saw him. We were at her house, and for some reason I was going through her closet…

"Spencer, where’d you get that teddy bear?"

"I’ve had him since I was one."

"Why haven’t I seem him before?"

"I hid him when you were around…." She said, looking down embarassed.

    "Why?"

"So you wouldn’t make fun on me."

"I never make fun of you!" She looked at me. "Okay, I do.. but I’m only joking… Besides, it’s cute." I said. There was a comfortable silence between us.

"His names Teddy." She spoke low. "Well actually, it’s Theodore Cornelius Carlin." I tried to hide my laugh.

    "He has a full name?"

"Of course he does!" She yelled as quiet as possible, as if I was dumb for asking such a question. "God, don’t you have anything from when you were a kid?" I pretended to ignore her question. The truth is, I did. I purple teddy bear named Grant. My dad gave him to me when I was 6 monthes old. "Oh my God! You do!"

"Yes, I do, okay? Now shut up." I said, picking up Teddy. "He has a hole in him…. wait, two holes, no three." She yanked him away from me.

"Stop making him feel bad!" She whined.

"Spencer, he’s a teddy bear. He doesn’t have feelings." I said, okay, she’s crazy. I can’t like her any more. Fuck, what am I saying? Of course I can.
