I Could Never Forget About You – (Chapter: Its too soon)

I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve probably had the best day of my life today…with hope of it becoming an even better one. Ashley and I have been inseparable for the whole day watching Shelly, joking around…somewhat like old times.

It’s rounding eight o’clock right now, we just came back from eating ice cream…Ben & Jerry’s of course, and are now making our way back into Ashley’s loft apartment. She’s just left me a couple seconds ago to put Shelly to bed, in which time I can’t help but look around.

It’s beautiful, homey, and spacious. Nothing seems a mess, like her room used to be. I guess she finally realized being organized is a better way to live. She has a plasma screen hanging over the fireplace, which has no wood in it, and looks like it hasn’t ever been used or at least not recently.

“Hey, you want a drink?” I didn’t even hear her come back, but she’s quick and already making her way into the kitchen.

“Sure.” I’m still pretty nervous; I mean it’s been a really long time you know?

“White wine or red?” She asks, I’m not really a big fan of wine, but why the hell not. This is a special occasion.

                    “Red sounds great.”

“Well then, Red it is.” She replies, pouring it in each glass. I take a look around her kitchen and notice many different types of Wine. Either she really loves it, or she’s constantly having company. Hopefully none of them being women.

After everything is settled, wine poured, and ourselves getting situated on the couch. We decide to watch a little television. Not necessarily watch, more like a use of distraction.

“So…how’ve you been? How’s life been treating you?” She asks after a moment of silence.

“I can’t complain,” Yes I can. “But you know, like everybody else’s life…it isn’t a walk in the park.” I don’t think it ever will be with me.

“Yeah…” It’s mostly been one word responses on both of our parts unfortunately, but at least we’re talking.

“So… What about you? How’s your singing going?” I ask, taking a sip of my wine.
