Home is Where You Feel Safe – (Chapter: 2)

Your eyes snap open as you feel a sharp pain pierce your side, it feels a bit like a finger shoving itself into your skin. You roll over and out of habit tell your mother to shut the hell up and go away. It wasn’t until you hear your back vreak that forces you to remember that you had been sleeping on a bus stop bench the whole night. You sit up groggily and look around.

Your eyes find a blonde at the other end of the bus stop. You rub your eyes to remove some more of the sleep in order to see her clearer. You suspect that she is the one who had poked you so hard in your already sore side. You chuckle at being treated like some rapid animal with rabies.

"I am not going to bite…," you grumble when you see the terrified look on her smooth face. You sit up a little straighter in an effort to make yourself look a bit more presentable.

She shakes her head vehemently, "I don’t know that."

You chuckle, "what about me makes me look like a biter?"

She placed a finger against her chin, making it seem as though she was thinking hard and then said in a sarcastic tone, "…well I dunno, it might be the fact that you are soaking wet…and let’s not forget that you look like you have been sleeping on this bench for the entire night."

"Ouch…," you mutter massaging your sore neck and wondering what the hell possessed you to sleep on the bench, "bitch much?" You are so not in the mood to deal with some goody-goody.

"Sure…I might be a bitch but at least I’m not a homeless bitch like some people," she retorts, you feel offended but also undoubtedly impressed by her comeback. Your cheeks grow red in anger and embarrassment.

"Shut your mouth Blondie. You don’t know nothing about me," you give her a glare your brown eyes penetrating her sparkling baby blues.

The blonde stares back showing you that she is not scared or backing down any time soon, "I know that your grammar is horrible and that you spent the whole damn night on this bench."

Your mouth opens and closes several times in a vain attempt at words. Finally, your anger boild over and you stand up shouting loudly into the younger girl’s face, "Where the fuck else am I supposed to go? Huh?" you feel some great satisfaction wash through you at her silence and cross your arms a somewhat arrogant look on your face.

"Can’t answer that one can you smarty?"

A tiny voice is laughing at you inside your head.
