The day was bright and clear, unusual for Forks. Normally, Bella would thoroughly enjoy the sunny days since she barely saw the sun here, but now that she and Edward had established their relationship the sun only meant time away from him. She could've spent the day at the Cullens, but she really wasn't interested in being Alice's dress up doll again. Not right now anyway.
Since graduation was only a few months away, Charlie had been more protective of her than usual. She knew he feared what might happen to her while away, and while she was flattered, she felt slightly angry. Bella wanted nothing more than to shout at him that Edward would take care of her always, but she knew he was still skeptical about him since the incident earlier that year.
Sometimes she wished she could tell him everything. How the Cullens were vampires, how Edward had only been trying to protect her, how much he meant to her, and how she loved him and wanted to become a vampire one day too. Unfortunately, Bella knew that Charlie would not take the news as well as she had. That is, assuming he didn't think she was nuts and have her hauled away in a straitjacket.
Thankfully, Guard Dad – as she'd taken to calling him – left for work early today, leaving her alone before she even woke up. Even rarer than a sunny day, it was a sunny Saturday, which meant the beautiful day wouldn't be spent inside a classroom learning boring formulas she'd only forget in a few weeks. It meant she wouldn't be stuck in those classrooms with people she once considered friends, but who'd mostly disowned her after her 'woe is me' period when Edward left. Jessica still wasn't talking to her after that night!
Honestly, she thought the girl was being a bit of a drama queen, but she understood her anger all the same. She'd been walking right towards strange men because she heard Edward's voice. Of course, Jessica didn't know she heard Edward's voice, – no one except Edward knew she'd been hearing him – but she wasn't in a hurry to tell her that little tidbit. As it was, Angela was the only one she really talked to anymore, and she was always busy with Ben.
