Give Up Forever To Touch You – (Chapter: 6)

    “You”

Spencer smiled slightly, a little embarrassed. “I don’t need visiting”

“Are you in despair?” The brunette inquired.

Spencer frowned at the question, obviously having thought she had been rather upbeat and happy with this stranger. Then to her own surprise she decided to be honest for once with someone. “I had a patient die the other day right on my table.”

“It wasn’t your fault” Ashley replied softly.

“I was holding his heart in my hands when he died.”

    “You did everything you could.”

    “I wanted him to live”

“He is living … just not the way you think”

“I don’t believe in that stuff” Spencer replied. She tugged at the sleeves of her shirt nervously. “It’s my job to prevent people from dying.”

    “It’s not your fault Spence”

The blonde looked at her curiously. "How do you know my name?”

The brunette frantically thought for an explanation to her personal knowledge of the girl. Well Spencer you see I’m an angel who just so happens to be infatuated with you so ofcourse I know your name cause I follow you about everywhere. Yep totally not creepy Ash. The brunette caught sight of the girl’s lab coat resting in Spencer’s lap. She nodded her head at it briefly. “Nametag” she stated simply. The blonde seemed satisfied with her reason because she continued on with her questioning.

“So what do you do?” It was simple pleasantries but the brunette couldn’t be anymore elated. This felt normal, as normal as things could get for the brunette.

    “I’m a messenger.”

“Oh… like for the post office?” The doctor inquired.

    “For God”

The blonde looked at her slightly perplexed. What is she like an televangelist? Spencer decided to drop the topic. She finally truly looked over at the girl next to her. She had tousled brown curls and porcelain skin that seemed untouched by time. Her eyes were a warm deep chocolate, her pupils slightly dilated and the blonde wondered if she was on any drugs. She knew the girl seemed to coherent for that though. Her gaze traveled down the nape of the brunette’s neck and the crook of it seemed warm and inviting. She wondered how many lucky men had had the opportunity to kiss that soft skin. Because of course this beauty couldn’t possibly like girls. The girl had a trim figure and was clad in black trousers and a black worn trench coat. She looked like she had just walked out of the Matrix. That might explain all of her odd responses to my questions.

The bus slowed to a stop and the driver’s voice boomed over the loudspeaker. “15th and Market.” Spencer was startled out of her thought process. Am I really home already? She stood up quickly and glanced over at the brunette. She reached over and extended her hand, “I didn’t catch your name” she stated politely.

Ashley looked at the girl’s extended hand and then up into her eyes, wondering what she should exactly do with herself. She reached out her hand and clutched the other girls palm tightly and Spencer was surprised at the brunettes grip on her hand. You would think she had never shook someone’s hand before with the way she’s gripping me.

    “Ashley” the brunette replied suddenly.

Spencer nodded, “Well it was nice to meet you Ashley, this is my stop. I’ll see you around” She said warmly before she began her walk down the aisle to the exit, she brushed passed people murmuring apologies along her way.

Ashley watched her as she hopped off the bus raising her white labcoat above her head covering herself from the rain. She turned to her left and began to run trying to escape the weather as it cried on her small figure. The brunette sat in silent awe. She saw me.
