Forever Yours – (Chapter: Chapter 6: Road to Oblivion)
Ashley paced back and forth, her girlfriend watching her intently. “That freak drives me insane!” Ashley cried, bring her fist down violently to the table.
“Ash, calm down, honey. I’m sure Caleb isn’t as bad as you imagine him to be. I mean, Aiden likes him.”
“Yeah well, Aiden has bad taste in friends,” Ashley barked back.
“Does that mean we’re bad? Because last time I checked, we’re Spashden.”
Ashley frowned. “You know what, Spence? You’re not helping. At all.”
“Huh. Okay, well then I’m going to go home since I’m suddenly a worthless girlfriend,” Spencer said sadly, gathering her sweater and purse. “Call me when I’ve gained some value.” Spencer got out of the car and into her house because clearly expressing that she had taken offense to Ashley’s grief.
Ashley let out an exasperated sigh as she rested her forehead on the steering wheel. Not only had she been kicked out of her own apartment, but also deserted by her girlfriend. “Ugh,” she groaned as she made her way up the Carlin’s driveway. Ringing the door bell, she dialed Spencer and waited.
“What?” came Spencer’s irritated voice through the speaker.
“Look, I know that you’re mad at me but please come and open the door for me. Please?”

“Spencer?”
The door swung open and Ashley was pulled inside. “You’re worth the whole universe?” Ashley said, unsure if it would make the youngest Carlin feel any better.
Spencer shook her head in disappointment. She truly thought the brunette would try harder than five simple words. “What you said really hurt, Ash. You are my world; you know that I love you more than anything. But to be called insignificant, now that’s insulting.”
“Spencer, you know I didn’t mean you! I never said that you were worthless. Please!”
“You didn’t have to. I know what you meant, Ash. And it hurt. It really did.” Spencer folded her arms over her chest, closing the doors of her heart. “I’m sorry, Ashley, but your words hurt so much that I don’t even know if I have the strength to keep our relationship alive.”
“Spencer, don’t do this to me.”
Spencer shook her head, opened the front door and ushered her former girlfriend out.

3 days. 72 hours. 4320 minutes. 259,200 seconds. “Shit!” Ashley screamed, becoming more and more frustrated with herself as ever second ticked by, “Shit! Shit! Shit!”
“Will you keep it down, Ash!?” Kyla called from her bedroom, “Gawd.”
“I’ll be as fuckin’ loud as I want to be,” Ashley muttered. A few seconds later, Kyla shuffled lazily into the room and gave Ashley the middle finger.
“Thanks, Ashley,” Kyla muttered sarcastically.
“You’re so very welcome.” Kyla glared at her sister, only to get a smug grin in return. “Spencer hasn’t called me in three days,” Ashley said.
“Does it really look like I give a flying fuck?” Kyla replied, still somewhat angry that her alarm clock was her swearing sister.
“You know what, Kyla? Everyone has a little something called sympathy. That is, everyone but you.” Ashley snatched up her purse and jacket. “Later sista!” she muttered mockingly as she stormed out of the loft.
Ashley was truly on the road to oblivion. She was driving herself insane. She missed Spencer – her voice, her laughter, her touch, her scent. And though Ashley had gone through the same situation before, she felt as though the emptiness was considerably more eminent than before.
