When the brunette re-entered the room she could hear the shower running. The door to the bathroom was still cracked open and she carefully peered inside, wanting to make sure Spencer was all right. The blonde was sitting on the floor of the shower, fully clothed, with the hot water beating down upon her. Her head was buried in her knees as her shoulders shook, and Ashley was certain she’d never seen anything more heartbreaking in her entire life.

The girl slipped silently through the door and entered the large shower stall, taking a seat beside Spencer. She didn’t say anything for a while, just sat there shoulder to shoulder with Spencer, her wet clothes sticking to her frame. Eventually she slipped her arm over the girl’s shoulder, and Spencer seemed to melt into her. Despite Spencer being taller than Ashley, she was able to sink into her embrace like a child.

“Ashley… I don’t know what is going to happen…” Spencer spoke, her tears unidentifiable from the streams of water beating down on her face.

“I am not going to let anything else bad happen to you, okay? You’re going to be fine.” The brunette assured her, pulling Spencer in tighter against her.

Spencer just stared up at her, mouth slightly parted as their eyes locked. Slowly the feelings between them electrified, and their breathing began to quicken. It was Spencer who closed the space between their lips, her eyes slipping shut as their mouths met. The kiss was at first tender and grateful, then heated and passionate. Ashley nibbled the girl’s bottom lip, tugging slightly before she dived in once more. It seemed to last an eternity, with their mouths eagerly exploring their newfound conquests. When they did finally break apart, their eyes opened and held a fresh glow about them.

“Wow, of all the ways I imagined our first kiss, this was definitely not one of them.” Ashley spoke finally, evoking the first genuine smile from Spencer that she’d seen in a while.

“And exactly how many ways did you imagine?” Spencer inquired, brow lifted as she sat up a bit. The tears had stopped completely, all of the frustration and fear she’d been feeling taking a backseat to her feelings towards Ashley.

“Um…” Ashley paused, dragging it out as she tapped her chin, “Lets just say a lot.” She replied in a teasing manner, enjoying the warm laughter in Spencer’s eyes.

Spencer just stared up at her, completely taken aback by the girl’s beauty and strength. She knew just by looking into those eyes that Ashley wasn’t going to abandon her or leave her to face this on her own. At that moment she was overcome by the sensation that everything was going to turn out okay, and she was at ease. “You know, I think I may just be falling in love with you Ash.”

Ashley arched a brow, looking a bit disturbed as she folded her arms, “You think?”
