Fire Burning: One Shoots Under One Title – (Chapter: Prom Queen)
Ashley: So Aiden got a room for us tonight… (She plays with her food in front of her and avoids eye contact, which is a good thing because my facial expression just changed very quickly.)
Spencer: Did he? That’s very nice. (I cringe a little.)
Ashley: Yeah… (She pushes her food to the side and just looks at me.) I don’t know though, should I? I mean this is my first time with anyone and I just want it to mean something.
Spencer: (I look away from her and don’t say anything)
Ashley: Spencer… (She tries to get my attention)
Spencer: Ash? Do you want the truth? (I look towards her.)
Ashley: (She looks at me confused.) Yeah, of course I do.
Spencer: (I took a deep. Well there’s no better time than the present.) Um whatever I say to you about you sleeping with Adien is going too be biased.
Ashley: (She looked at me even more confused.) What… what do you mean Spence?
Spencer: It’s going too biased…it’s going to be biased because I don’t want you to sleep with him. Shit I don’t even want you to be with him. (She looked shocked) What I’m trying to say is that I wanna be you. I like you… scratch that…I’m in love with you… (I said in a whisper.)
There was complete and udder silence. Neither she nor I knew what to say. I can tell that she wasn’t taking the news to well though. Fuck what did I just do? She just looked at me.
Ashley: I don’t know what to say right now.
Spencer: (I just looked away and a tear rolled down my cheek) I figured!
Ashley: Spencer don’t be like…
I cut her off and just left. I couldn’t deal with her… I know it was wrong of me, but I don’t know I just couldn’t.

It’s about 7:30 pm. Prom starts at 9 and all my friends, except Ashley, are calling me to find out what happened today at the quad. Not that I’m not eager to pour my heart and soul out to every one of my friends and tell them, but it was none of their business if you ask me. 8o’clock rolled up and my limo came to pick up me and my neighbor Max. Max was gay and I was gay so it seemed suitable for us to go together because there were no expectations since we both knew about the other.
