“Ok mum, I’m not going to ask… mainly because I’m worried of the answer!” Spencer smiled warmly. ”ok so I take this test, show you I’m not pregnant, and then you will drop it…. Ok?” Spencer asked, it was uncanny how much she looked like her mother at times, especially when she was trying to prove a point or tell someone off.

“Ok, if it’s negative I will drop it, I promise” Paula smirked knowing that if that test was negative, there was no way on earth she would drop it. She paced the room, looking like you imagine an expectant father to have been in the olden days, pacing the maternity ward, waiting for the news he had a little girl or boy. Her pacing was stopped dead by the half excited half horrified shriek coming from her en suite.

She ran through the door and almost tripped over Spencer who was sat on the floor, her head in her hands.

“Mum, I’m having a baby, we’re having a baby” she smiled sheepishly up at her mother.

“Oh my god baby, that’s great news, wait till I tell your dad, and glen! A baby!” Paula said not knowing whether to run downstairs and tell everyone or hug her daughter.

“Mum, this has to stay between you and me for just now, please” Spencer pleaded.

“Why darling?” Paula said, disappointment painted all over her face.

“because I want Ash to be the first to know, please its really important to me, I don’t want everyone else to know before she does” Spencer sighed knowing it would be another 5 weeks before she could tell her.

“Yeah ok I understand our secret ok?” Paula frowned.

“Ok I promise, if you can wait till I tell Ash, then I will let you tell dad and Glen, ok?” Spencer smiled.

“Yeah ok, I’m so happy for you sweetheart” Paula said pulling Spencer from the floor and into a hug.

Me too, Ash is going to go over the moon” Spencer smiled broadly as she pulled her mum into another hug.

“Come on, lets go get some breakfast, you need to keep your strength up now, your eating for two now you know” Paula lectured as she pushed Spencer in the direction of the kitchen and their family. Spencer led the way rolling her eyes at her mother, nine months of lectures and mum-knows-best…Great!
