Everything And Nothing – (Chapter: The great newspaper dillema)

“And I love you anyway!” Spencer pulled to a stop in front of the first 7-11 and Ashley hopped out running inside. The clerk at the front stared at her as she marched up to him determinedly.

“I need all of your copies of the Dallas Morning News, now.” He stared at her for a minute and she began to grow impatient. “Now means like ten seconds ago, not tomorrow.”

The small balding man moved quickly around the counter and walked into the back of the store. He returned momentarily with an armful of Sunday Papers and rang the total up at the register. Ashley noticed he was studying her face and blinked and shook her head at him.

“What? Why are you staring at me?” She asked irritated. He smiled and raised his eyebrows.

“You are on the front cover, no?” Ashley balled her fists up against her sides and checked her watch. This is taking too long.

“Yes, I’m on the front cover, No I don’t have time for smalltalk, Here is my platinum card, BUH BYE.” His smile faded quickly and he ran her card through, giving her the receipt to sign. She swiftly gathered all of the papers in her arms and carried them to Spencer’s Tahoe. The girls threw the papers in the back with the twenty or so copies they had stolen from the neighborhood. They made it to four more 7-11’s before time ran out. As they were leaving the fourth store Spencer’s phone buzzed.

“Yeah Mom, you guessed it. Can’t keep anything a secret from you, Mhmm, yep, Love you too, see ya in a few!” Spencer laughed as she hung up the phone. “We have to make a quick stop at the doughnut place, that’s where my mom thinks we went.”

As they pulled up to the front of the house, Ashley could see that Spencer was still a little nervous. Putting her hand on her hand, she squeezed slightly and gave her a smile.
