Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 24: The Ones at Ease Do Not Mix With Those Under Stress.)

God, things were so much easier back then. Who knew that the good ol’ days consisted of eating bugs and calling each other a “meanie face”?

Spencer sighed as she turned around; she looked at her girlfriend who was still lying down, eyes closed, while running a hand tiredly through her hair.

Screw Little Timmy…He could have never ignited the fire deep within the younger girl as Ashley had. The brunette made Spencer feel alive. Whole. And there was no rubbing of dirt in inconvenient places for her to get to that status. Ashley was here, and as far as Spencer knew she was going to always be there when she needed her.

She walked over to the bed, and sat down on the edge next to the other girl. “I think it’s been five minutes.”

Ashley eyes remained closed. “No, I don’t think it has,” she shot back as her hand found the small of the blonde’s back.

The taller girl leaned into the touch as the other girl began rubbing her back in small circular motions. Man, was Ashley ever lazy in the afternoon. Probably because she hardly slept at night.

“Ash, come on.” Spencer wanted to get things going. She figured the faster they got settled, the faster this trip would be over, and she could go back to avoiding her family at all costs. The brunette was making her plans difficult.

“Still have a headache. Few more minutes,” Ashley mumbled.

Sighing, Spencer gave up, “Fine. But I’m gonna unpack or something.” She motioned to move off the bed, but she suddenly felt a firm grip on her waist pulling her backwards.

She yelped as her back hit the mattress; turning to look at the other girl, she shot her a glare.

“You need to relax,” Ashley chided. “You are way too uptight.”

“Yeah, sorry,” Spencer rolled onto her side, “So what do you think of Ohio, so far?” she rested a hand on the other girl’s abs.

The brunette covered the hand with her own. “Cold,” she said shortly.

    “Cold? That’s it?” Spencer giggled.

“Well, I can’t really give you an analyzed answer after only an hour of being here.” Ashley smiled, “I need two hours.”

Spencer shook her head in amusement, “Smartass.”
