DAWN: The unauthorized new finale to the Twilight series
I knew he was right. But I couldn't help feeling like it was me, and solely me. Edward scooped me up in his arms and took me over to the bed. He switched off the lamp, and pressed play on the CD player. My lullaby soothed me as I held my guardian angel, and thunder rolled gently in the distance.
We laid there for a long time. I heard a car pull into the drive way. I shifted, about to get up to look out the window, Edward held me still. "It's not Charlie." He said. The window opened and rain spilled into the room. I could feel the mist over my face as it poured. Then, a hot pink duffel bag fell into the room, following it gracefully was Alice, like a renowned ballerina's entrance. She leapt onto the bed, her small build barely even causing a shift on the mattress. "Hello, Bella!" She said enthusiastically, "I saw you needed a girls night!"
"Alice," I said with surprise, "I really would rather-"
"Edward isn't a GIRL," Said Alice, "He doesn't know the comfort you need!" She pulled on Edward's arm, trying to get him to leave.
"Alice, Bella doesn't want to have a sleepover," Edward said, "Maybe tomorrow night-"
"Edward, OUT!" She pushed Edward towards the window.
"Edward, it's okay. Maybe I could use Alice's company tonight." I gave up.
Alice's smile seemed to light the room as she pushed Edward through the window and closed the door. She then pranced over to my CD player and took out my Lullaby. Instead, she replaced it with an album of some girl singer. I wanted to know who she was, but I've listened to nothing but my lullaby for so long. "Sit on the bed!" She said, and I did so, not feeling like arguing with someone who would win anyway. Alice dug through her bag and produced pedicure equipment. She shoved cottonballs between the toes on my right foot and began to paint them pink. I stared in amazement at her enthusiasm.
"So," Said Alice, "Are you getting cold feet yet?"
"No, Alice," I said, "Do we really have to talk about the wedding, though? My mind is elsewhere."
Alice sighed. "Fine." She said. I sat in silence while she thought of what to say. "Even though I can't see him," she said, "I'm sure he's pouting somewhere in safety." Before I could protest, Alice continued with, "Sorry, but he IS a puppy."
