dark blue – (Chapter: sore thumb)

"chels…" clay gently shook chelsea awake though all his energy was really being drained into straining his ears, trying to figure out what he had just heard. "WHAT THE…GET OFF MY DAUGHTER!" "oh god…" clay muttered, shooting up from the couch, inadvertently knocking his girlfriend off and onto the floor. he tripped over a beer can and slid on a wet spot, which he would soon discover to be none other than smirnoff with a hint of piss. he clobbered up the stairs at a blistering pace but came to a screeching halt when he saw the scene that was unfolding in his sister’s room.

getting walked in on sucks, period. there’s really nothing good about it, unless it’s planned, in which case you have bigger issues to be sorting out. getting walked in on by a parental unit, again, blows. however, getting walked in on stark naked, by your catholic bible toting mother, with the only sheets on your bed balled up at your feet, and your girlfriends head on your chest, arm around your waist, and legs laced with yours…yeah, about that…

despite the fact that both spencer and ashley had been sound asleep there eyes popped open in unison to the ruckus at the door. however, it took one glance at paula’s face to have them tossing and turning frantically, rolling off the end of the bed farthest from paula, clutching for coverage that was hard to come by. (it aslo didn’t help that their clothes were in a pile at the midpoint between the girls and satan) her face was beyond beet red and tomatoes wouldnt do it justice either. think fresh blood, like the shit that oozes out of your leg when you take a bad spill. it keeps coming, and coming, and…that’s sort of the best way to describe paula at that specific moment in time. just when it seemed impossible that she could look anymore gruesome, she did. her face twisted into a grimace that would make godzilla flee for japan, superman doubt his super strength, and vin diesel cry. her hands had curled themselves into little fists clearly capable and having every intention of causing serious damage. ashley, peeking from behind the shirt she was desperately pulling on, even swore that she saw a little smoke dancing from her nostrils. plainly put, paula was fuming. neither of the girls heard clay running up the stairs praying to the good lord that blood hadn’t been drawn yet. "mom…" clay slowly grabbed hold of the woman’s arms, wincing at the tension he felt in them, the muscles that were now clearly defined, struggling against a thin layer of skin. by now, spencer and ashley had garnered enough clothes to be considered decent, though all the articles were askew. ashley was standing behind spencer, a look of pure panic playing across her face. and why not? paula chick was livid. she hadnt taken her eyes off of the brunette in the last hour (it wasnt really an hour, it was one minute and 30 seconds…31….32) spencer wasn’t breathing easy either though. actually, her face sort of resembled her mothers, minus the grimace and furrowed eyebrows. she was shaking, but standing her ground. she knew that the only chance of ashley making it out of this house alive was with spencer standing between her and her mother and she definetly wasn’t going to contribute to the brunette’s cause of death. though her mind was racing and she hadn’t formulated a complete thought since telling ashley they should "go upstairs" (funny where it got them) she figured she had to say something. "m-mom. l-loo-" too late. paula had pounced and would’ve gotten to ashley too had it not been for clay and aiden holding her back. (chelsea had woken him up and told him to go upstairs. she was in the hallway debating whether or not to call the authorities since shit was obviously about to go down) "YOU’RE GOING TO BURN IN HELL FOR THIS! BOTH OF YOU! spencer…you’re going to burn in hell for this" the last phrase wasn’t yelled, as a matter of fact, it was when she was addressing her daughter that she broke into tears and finally stopped struggling in clay and aidens arms. she took one last glance at her daughter, though the image she saw wasn’t too clear due to the water in her eyes brimming over. "let me go…" she whispered, directing the command at clay. he wasnt buying it though. as much as he loved his mother, he wasnt going to give her the go ahead to rip his sister’s (and his sisters girlfriends) throat out. "let me go!" she said louder, turning towards the door. she marched past them, not even acknowledging chelsea as she clattered down the staircase and out the door. the door slammed hard behind her and, as if on cue, everyone let out the breath they had been holding for what felt like days (it wasnt really days, it was 4 minutes and 45 seconds…46…47). ashley slid down the wall that had been supporting her, running hands through her brown hair as she tried to calm her nerves, tried to get the blood flowing again. spencer paced, back and forth and back and forth, rubbing her temples, a nervous wreck. she had never seen a mother like that before, a beast, a fucking animal waiting to attack. clay and aiden were sitting on either side of her doorway, heads in their hands, rubbing their faces, trying to decide whether or not this was really happening or if it was just a fucked up nightmare. chelsea walked in and sat next to clay, quietly grabbing hold of his hand as she attempted to comfort him. silence prevailed.
