Coming Undone – (Chapter: Chapter Twelve – {Past Memories and Bad Dreams})

“Yeah…Kyla is just upset…about a guy, I think…couldn’t really understand her.”  Ashley tried to keep it vague as if it would mean she wasn’t really being deceiving.

Gia nodded and let out a large yawn.  “What me to come?”

Ashley swung her body over and stood up, stretching.  “No, it’s fine.  Sister thing, you know?”

Gia nodded again, slightly grateful because it was really early and she wanted to go back to bed.  Snuggling back under her sheets, she watched as Ashley threw on a pair of sweats and an old t-shirt.  Ashley put the dress and shoes she had worn to the party in a shopping bag and slipped her feet into a pair of Gia’s sneakers.

“Yes, please, take all my clothes,” Gia said in a low, throaty voice, smirking a little.

Ashley grinned and leaned over, placing a kiss on Gia’s forehead.  “It’s my way of keeping you close.”

“You got that from a Maroon 5 song.”

“So?  Doesn’t mean it’s not true.”  Ashley laughed.  “I’ll call you later.”

    “Okay baby.”

Ashley crept out of the apartment and down to the street of the building.  She waited on a corner with her hand out until a cab pulled up.  The drive from 12401 Studebaker Road back to Ashley’s penthouse took close to forty minutes; Ashley hadn’t realized how far away Gia lived.  Ashley made her way upstairs and unlocked the door, looking around at the sundrenched loft.  Dropping her bags, Ashley shuffled across the living room to Kyla’s bedroom and quietly opened the door.  She could see Kyla’s sleeping lump underneath fluffy comforters.

Ashley crawled underneath the covers, trying not to wake Kyla but her sister stirred under the movement.

“If Gia ever asks, you called me over this morning because you were crying over a boy.”  Ashley felt Kyla’s head nod slowly and she let her eyes droop.

“If Gia ever asks, Spencer did not come over last night.” Kyla mumbled

Ashley’s eyes popped open and she turned around to face her half sleeping sister.  “What?”

Kyla smirked a little as she kept her eyes close.  “Spencer did not come over last night and it’s opposite day.”

“Damn it Kyla, stop playing games.”

“Oh, now you want to hear what I have to say?”
