    But I'm A Cheerleader

“Oh yeah, that’s right, he left a while ago. He doesn’t know about me, and Ashley.”

    Me (whispering)-Ashley.

Dolph-I knew it…She was into you from the start.

Me-Why didn’t she come with me then?

    Dolph-Maybe she was scared.

    Me-Like I’m not?

Dolph-Believe me. You’re better off here.

“Lloyd suggested that Dolph take me out to celebrate my freedom. So, here we are back at the gay bar. Its too painful being inside there so, I told Dolph I needed some air. Like a good friend, he came with me to make sure I’m going to be okay. We’re sitting down at the very spot where me and Ashley shared our first kiss…”

    Me-I miss her…

Dolph-She’s scared that maybe she’s making the wrong choice, but it’s her wrong choice to make…you have to be willing to walk away.

    Graduation

“Today’s the day we were all supposed to be graduating from True Directions. That sounds so ridiculous now…to think that being a homosexual is like a class you can pass or fail. No…when you’re gay passing is when you’re able to put up with the discrimination, and keep your head up. Passing is when your family and friends accept you for who you are because they realize that being gay doesn’t change the blood in your veins, or erase years of friendship. Failing is what happens when parents disown their kids, because their unconditional love suddenly has conditions. Failing is trying to force your kid to be something they’re not because you selfishly care more about what your friends will think of you. I don’t need a ceremony to know I’ve passed with flying colors!

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’ve got to tell you about my plan…I’ve enlisted Dolph to help me infiltrate the True Directions graduation ceremony, and win Ashley back. We’re all decked out in camo, and I’m ready to go…Running really fast, I’ve made it to some trees where I’ll wait for the right moment…The happy heterosexuals begin making their ways down the aisle to their seats in front of the stage. I’m Army crawling my way to Ashley trying not to be seen. As Ashley walks by I grab her arm and pull her down to me.”

    Ashley-Jesus.

    Me-Miss me?

    Ashley-Why are you here?

    Me-I came to get you!

Ashley (looks at her mom and then back at me)-I can’t go anywhere, Spencer.

“With that, she got up and walked to her seat. Why is she doing this? What am I supposed to do now? I need a Plan B…I’ve got it! She said she wanted to see me cheer, and all my belongings are in the truck…I’ve got to try.”

“Okay, my uniforms on, I’ve got my pompoms, Ashley here I come.”

Me-Ashley… (once she’s looking at me) One, two, three, four, I won’t take no anymore. 5,6,7,8 – I want you to be my mate. 1,2,3,4 – You’re the one I adore. 5,6,7,8 – Don’t run from me cause this is fate.

“The seconds feel like forever, as I stand here waiting, worrying that I’ve made a fool of myself for nothing. I thought I saw a hint of a smile on her face during my cheer, but I can’t read her face now. This is killing me…God, please, please, let her choose me! She’s standing up now that’s a good sign!”

    Me-I love you!

“Before she could respond Mary ruined the moment, if Ashley had said something right then I would’ve stayed, but she didn’t. So now, I’m running back to the truck. I hope Dolph’s ready because I just want to get out of here…I’m on the truck bed …He’s starting the engine…Wait I hear someone’s voice…could it be? Yes, it is! It’s really Ashley!”

    Ashley (screams)-Spencer! …Wait!

“I know she was running, but it felt like slow motion. She’s finally made it to the truck, and over the tailgate. I long for her kiss no more…My eyes are closed, I’m lost in the moment, and I never want this to end!”

My mom and I are trying to work through our problems she’s even going to PFLAG meetings now…I’m getting my mom back…I’ve got Ashley…Life is good!

    The End

    Comments

    1. Nice rendition but I would have liked more of the guys group… Someone who didn’t see the movie would have no idea why Dolph left or why he wouldn’t be ready to go in the truck. I’m also very disappointed that a certain speech wasn’t in this….”Congratulations, liars! You know who you are and you know who you want! Aint nobody gunna change that! Sheit….” Lmao favorite part in the movie I swear…. Priceless
