Ashley: Is that why….. (breathes deeply) ….is that why you are killing yourself?

Spencer: I just wanted to see you again. I wanted to be punished. I deserve to be punished for what I did.

(Ashley turned Spencer around in her arms, and looked into her ocean blue eyes. Ashley could see the hurt and pain in them. Her eyes reflected the same thing. But this was the love of her life. The girl she would give up everything for. Her soul mate. And to know that Spencer was trying to kill herself to make it right with Ashley, made Ashley’s heart constrict. She realized now the damage that had been caused. What if Kyla never found Spencer? What if she had been too late? What if Ashley never got to see Spencer to make it right? She wouldn’t have been able to live with herself. She finally understood what Spencer meant by saying that it was worse what Ashley did. Sure, Spencer was no saint, but at least she was going to try fixing her mistakes. But Ashley stripped her of that. Ashley made the decision for them. Ashley’s mistake almost cost Spencer her life, like Spencer thought hers costed Ashley’s. Both girls finally understood that they needed each other to mend and heal. And hopefully, they would be able to do so now. In the comfort of each other.)

Ashley: You don’t deserve to be punished Spence. I think you punished yourself enough. We were both wrong. But we have a chance to make it right now. We were giving a second chance for a reason. And I’ll be damned if I let it slip past. I still need you in my life Spence. Without you there is no me.

Spencer: Without you there is no me too. All I ever wanted to do was make it right with you. To show you how much I love you.

Ashley: I know you love me…I think deep down I always knew.  But it doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt when you said you hated me.

Spencer: I know. But like you said…we have time to fix it right? We can fix can’t we?

(Spencer looked into Ashley’s pleadingly. It broke Ashley’s heart. Ashley stood up, and pulled Spencer up with her. She laid Spencer in the bed, and crawled up next to her. She wrapped her arms tightly around Spencer, as Spencer cried harder than she ever has. Ashley cried with her. This is what they needed. What they yearned for. To be in each other’s arms, where they knew they were safe.)

Ashley: Sleep now Spence. We’ll talk more in the morning.

(Spencer drifted to sleep being in Ashley’s arms. Ashley soon followed. Unbeknownst to both girls, was a figure standing behind the door having seen everything, having heard every word. They grabbed their chest and breathed deeply. They broke out of their trance when some caught their attention.)

Arthur: What are you thinking about Paula?

Paula: (smiles) That maybe there is still hope. Maybe all is not lost.
