‘Kate, you OK with everything?’ my girlfriend asked, gently taking my hand in hers. 

Her confessions to Spencer last night might make things between the three of us awkward. 

I thought back to the night before. Wanna hear about it? OK then, what follows is my recollection of our conversation.

I was kicking my heels outside the gym while waiting for Addy to give me a ride. I was still in my very sweaty sweats and my unruly hair was in a pony. Didn’t a grease monkey like me have a car? Yeah, I have a sexy black Porsche. I wasn’t flush with cash like Addy but teaching classes paid well and meant I could enjoy the finer things in life and have a hot car. Addy had offered me a ride so I’d driven home after school and jogged down. A good warm-up before class.

I heard the purr of Phoenix’s engine before I saw the car. I’d recognise that sound anywhere. Sure enough Addy pulled up a moment later. Fuck she looked good as the wind caught her hair.
