Big News!!! in Save Spashley Campaign – (Chapter: 1)

Delete if you must. Just had to get the word out

Tom Lynch – ‘South is not over’

I’m thrilled to announce that I had the remarkable experience of talking to Tom Lynch, the creator and producer of South of Nowhere, on the phone last night. It all came about after the Save Spashley admins sent him an email on Tuesday to express our gratitude for all he’s done for South and its fans. Not a half an hour later, he emailed back with his office number telling us to set up a phone conversation with him immediately. Needless to say, we did and the results are better than anything we could’ve dreamed.

Tom Lynch is completely behind Save Spashley and all campaigns to save South of Nowhere. The first words out of his mouth were: ‘Rebecca! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry I love you all so much. Imagine I’m hugging you! Tell everyone that! Imagine I’m hugging every single one of you.’ He went on to immediately state that he doesn’t believe that South is over, that there’s still much more story left to tell and he, for one, is not going to stop fighting to make sure that it get’s told. Tom knows the potential of this storyline and wants to see it realized.

This is a story that has changed lives and Mr. Lynch now feels that it’s his calling to tell stories like this. He joked that he wanted ‘SPASHLEY’ written on his tombstone because out of the thirty series he’s worked on, this one has touched him the most. He went on to talk about all the dreams he has for the girls: college, careers, kids, Spashley in their 30’s and 40’s. His dedication to this storyline is unparalleled and his dreams for it seem to be as big as any fanfic writer.

Mr. Lynch also referred to his statement that was posted on the-N where he said ‘things change’. That was not a statement of defeat as many people took it to be. It was a statement that things are changing at the-N, but with the support of the fans and everyone involved in the show, things can change yet again – for the better. We can make things change. We can make sure Spashley lives on.

    1. Hmmm, ways to improve ratings? How about better storylines? How about a realistic portrayal of a loving lesbian relationship? The ratings dipped because the writers and producers went away from what all brought us to SON, Spencer and Ashley. Not Ashley and Aiden or Spencer and OC, just Ashley and Spencer….together.

    2. Ok for the past 2 weeks, work has been kicking my ass from here to China and when I come home I love reading these fanfics, but when I read this little message it kind of made my day and put some sort of smile on my face. Thanks for posting this!! Spashley Rox!

    3. There are too many people who only watch SON to see a lesbian couple. On Fanforum there are plenty of names who will only watch an episode if there is a Spashley scene. This does not translate well to networks. The cast is ensamble so in order for them to keep the show there must be interest in other character story arcs as well as other shippings…just my two sense. You wanna completely support the show…then completely watch it.

    4. 2bz2breading didn’t really say that exactly but it’s something I read a lot on other boards. Because Ashley and Spencer took a break season 3 people decided to just not watch until the second half when they got back together. It frustrated me because it is a tv show and tv shows have twists and turns that viewers need to ride out, not give up on until it’s convenient to reconvene…

    5. what if they put all the pre-teen stuff they just started airing on noggin and do it like before with preschool 6am-6pm and preteen 6pm to 6am. that would be kool cause they can show south more and all the other kool shows that havent aired in a while like o’grady, daria, my so-called life, catlyn’s way. oh, hey, another idea, a south telethon people could call and donate money to save south and they could auction off signed prizes.
