    15. If You Could Read My Mind, Love…

Lt. Cavanaugh was pissed. Not only was his State appointed Medical Examiner missing, one of his own detectives might be responsible for it and therefore she was ineffective to him during the investigation of both the disappearance and the case that could end his career, the six still missing bodies and evidence. There were no leads.
He was waiting for Frost to return with the bank footage explaining the $350,000 deposit into the Rizzoli account. Korsak released Jane with her gun for protection, but without her badge, and made it critically clear to her that she was not to investigate on this case.
Frost returned and burst into the bullpen with a copy of the bank tape and a smile on his face.
“Dr. Isles made your deposit, Jane.” He was still grinning as he confirmed that his partner had not been part of a crime.
    “What,” the confused Rizzoli questioned.
“Let me see, I just need to see Maura,” the detective insisted.
Barry put the video in his computer and played it, after gathering their mothers, Korsak and Cavanaugh. At least Maura had been safe up to that point.
“When was the deposit made,” Angela questioned.
This was the first she had heard of it and it made her realize no wonder Jane had been under an aura of suspicion.
“Unfortunately, it was the day before the disappearance, but at least that proves Jane didn’t have motive.
Still Jane’s mind raced as to why Maura would make a deposit like that into her sole account without even mentioning it to her first. Maybe Maura thought Jane would not accept the gift, which of course, she would not have if she had known. Jane flashed to one of their late night bedroom chats when Maura announced to her that everything she had was Jane’s as well. She couldn’t imagine Maura with that much money just laying around.

The drive to the condo was in silence. Finally, Constance broke in with, “I am so glad you ladies will be my guests while I am here. I wish this were under better circumstances. You don’t know how badly I want to call in favors and private detectives, but out of respect to you, Jane, I will desist and wait patiently.
“Thank you,” Jane mumbled from the back seat.
“Constance, thank you for having us. We really appreciate it. We love Maura so much and we love you. We will find her,” Angela declared. She patted Constance on the shoulder as she drove.
When they arrived at the gated community, Constance punched in her code and drove through. She picked up her cell and phoned the property security company to put them on the alert.
“Isles, A-16. I want no visitors to the property unless you call and verbally confirm with me. Thank you.” She paused, adding, “Now we will be even safer” trying to reassure the other two.

      • Paddy didn’t actually kidnap Maura. She called him for help after Cavanaugh revealed it might be related to organized crime. When he realized she was in danger for examing some of the bodies, that’s when he wouldn’t let her leave, agreed to help her with the case.

    2. I was looking forward to an update.
