THE GETAWAY 11.Dr. Maura Isles, Rogue

Cavanaugh spent the afternoon making sure that Maura had 24 hour coverage and slowly one detective at a time, after sweeping for bugs, was moved back to the precinct except for Rizzoli. Before he left, Shawn turned to Jane and said, “Rizzoli, about that letter I gave you last night, tell me, when you and your co-horts cooked up this scheme, for you to be ‘on duty’ with Dr. Isles, who did you talk to at the agency?”
“Barry got a name from the AG website and I called.”
“Okay, I am gonna’ need that info. because we really don’t know what level the plant is on. I am turning over every last brick. By the way, good work, detective. If you hadn’t kept Dr. Isles under lock and key and uh, distracted, she may very well have already been a target.”
Jane wanted to acknowledge him. She worked hard to hide the blush that was forming over the word ‘distracted’ and she mumbled “thank you.”
Frost decided to finish his sleep in his own bed before returning for the night shift, leaving Jane and Maura alone finally.
Maura walked over to Jane in the kitchen and wrapped her arms around her, planted her face in Jane’s neck.
“It’s okay, Maura, you know you are safe with me, right?”
    “I do,” Maura purred.
“I like the sound of that,” Jane grinned.
    “So do I,” Maura added.
Now, if only she could figure out how to get Paddy to put a stop to all of this before any other lives were lost. She didn’t even want to think about the investigation to follow, because it might protect her, but it would put Jane at risk.

    “Maura, what are you doing?”
“Turning on music, Jane. It helps me sleep.” She slipped the silk robe off her shoulders as she crawled into the bed.
“You know what else makes me sleep soundly?”
Jane grinned at the sexy woman making a pass at her.
“Babe, they are going to think we are complete nymphos or horn dogs,” Jane muttered as she pulled Maura against her.
“Detective,” Maura addressed her, “Since when did you care about what other people thought of you?” Maura kissed Jane’s cheek. “Besides, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a healthy sex life,” she continued. “It prolongs your life span, it’s good cardio and …” Jane silenced Maura with a kiss.
“I never really told you thank you for last night,” Maura said softly.
“Thank you for what,” Jane wondered aloud.
“Well you had never done that before. Did you like it?”
“Oh, yeah,” Jane confirmed, already distracted by Maura’s warm breath on her nipples.
“You were serious, Maur, about doing this every night?”
“Well, yes, unless you’d rather not.” Maura pulled her face away from Jane’s chest and playfully pouted.
“I mean, we might tire of it eventually, but for now it’s still enjoyable, isn’t it?”
Jane pulled Maura’s lips into a kiss and wanted to hold them in her teeth forever. As soon as she let go, Jane realized she was in bed with the tigress again tonight. That in itself warranted the music to distill Maura’s love cries. Damn, I am so lucky, Jane thought.
Maura was so frustrated. She still didn’t know quite what to do completely. Should she do anything? If she did, Jane would be furious. Would she ever forgive her? Trust would be gone for sure. Maybe that didn’t matter so long as Maura kept Jane and the other homicide detectives alive. Maura could not fight terrorists, Russians, spies or the half a dozen other crime families, but she could stop Paddy. She just had to know if this was his fight or not, and she would not know unless she got out of the house.
She remembered the burner phone that he had handed her and it was buried in the nightstand drawer. She pulled away from Jane and went fishing in the drawer.
“Ah, there it is.” She located the burner and as Jane looked on quizzically, Maura pulled out the strap-on.
Oh my God, Jane thought, Maura is ‘in stereo’ when we use that.
“Jane, this is a little different,” her partner murmured. Maura pulled the strap-on in between them and then rolled up on top of Jane. Jane had forgotten how this felt, something so life-like inside her, and within seconds, the tigress was riding her wildly.
They were both drenched in sweat and the first orgasms happened easily. On one hand, Maura had in the back of her mind, the sooner we get this over with, Jane will go to sleep and I can make this call. The other part of Maura ached from the betrayal, and much like lying, she was taking slow breaths to prevent herself from hyperventilation, which was usually followed by a rash. All she could think was ’I am making love to the woman I trust more than life itself and I don’t want to lose her to some street hungry gun thugs’. Out of breath, Maura collapsed in Jane’s arms.
“Don’t ever let go of me, Jane.” Maura pleaded, knowing what was to follow.
“No way. Maura, I am in love with you. Besides, Ma would kill me or both of us maybe.” Jane sheepishly admitted to Maura, ”I liked that a lot better with you, better than, well, you know,…before…” Jane didn’t say with men, but Maura smiled. She did know.
Given the choice, sex for twenty minutes or lovemaking for several hours without interruption? To Maura it was a no-brainer, she had just been waiting for Jane to wake up and have the same revelation.
It was after 11p. and Maura either needed to confirm round 2 or disappear to make her phone call. She slid out of Jane gently and crawled up beside her, unfastening the leather on the way.
“Tired, baby, or you wanna’ play some more?”
Jane smiled,” I was just listening to this mix tape and I love it.”
“You mean, you love it because it is not classical, or you love it, period?”
“You made it. It’s part of you and your voice and I love it. Period. Let’s snuggle a while and then play some more.”
Maura knew already that Jane would be knocked out soon and she forced herself to stay awake, not fall victim to the music lulling them.
She scavenged the burner and texted ‘out back’ and hit speed dial 1. Mere moments later, she was out by the back gate, and a car pulled up.
