DCL 8 – Then Came The Fall
Gotham City.
Suddenly there was static. Suddenly there was shock. There was screaming. There was crying. There was a sense of panic in the crowd. All Helena and Stephanie could do was look on in horror.
It was an annual event that people from all over looked forward to. For Gotham City, it was something to celebrate in a city long filled with dire attitudes. For everyone else, it was an event to cherish through network television viewing.
Now that moment was gone.
Her name is Julie Madison.
It was to be a night where she and Helena may reconnect for a relationship that was already in shambles. All night she had wanted to yell at Helena about the relationship going downhill. All night she had wanted to yell at Helena for bringing her friend Stephanie along. All night she had wanted to yell at Helena for keeping herself away for so much time so often. Helena was always busy with her various commitments as far as Julie knew. Tonight, she would finally confront Helena after the show and give her an ultimatum. More time with her, or stay occupied and miserable in one of her offices.
Then came the fall.
Her name is Lois Lane.
She found it too strange that Vicki Vale was not here tonight. It was a guarantee every year that the two would cross paths, exchange pleasantries and perhaps have some petty argument about life in Gotham City versus life in Metropolis. She wanted to cover this circus event, perhaps get an exclusive interview for later with the warmup act, a lovely magician named Zatanna. She wanted to playfully bag on Gotham City for this evening being one of the few things Gotham City had going for itself.
Then came the fall.
Her name is Stephanie Brown.
Her masked persona of Robin would have to wait. Tonight, she wanted to see her friend Dick perform yet another amazing feat with his parents. She wanted to give him a hug and congratulate him on his acrobatic prowess after the show. She wanted to enjoy the moment while with her older friend Helena and Helena’s date, Julie. Tonight was to be a reminder as to why she wishes to inspire hope instead of fear like most of her masked allies in Gotham City.
