To Die Standing (WOrking Title)
Only half of Bette’s car was washed as she chased an almost three year old girl around her front yard, precariously running back and forth under the upward spray of the water hose. The car horn that blew to get their attention finally allowed her to capture the little girl and tickle her as she was rolled around in her arms.
“Auntie Alley help.” she tried to enunciate only coming forth in a toddler’s giggling voice.
“No darlin’ not in this outfit, Auntie TT will help you.”
“Her bag’s on the couch Al.” Bette said as she sidestepped the fun and games to get her niece’s over night bag. When Alice came back out Tasha and Bette both had her waddling back and forth between the two around the front yard.
“Come here Missy, so I can change your clothes.” she hurriedly ran over to Alice and was stopped by two arms hoping to impede the charge and not get her clothes soaked from her niece.
“Where’s T?” Alice looked up at the soaked woman in front of her and shielded her eyes before answering her.
“She’s still at work, so we’re taking the munchkin for the night. She said she tried to get a hold of you but you weren’t answering your phone.”
“Yea I left it in the house, I figured this one would find a way to get it wet.” Bette said resting her hand on top of the girl’s curly wet hair now pulling her shorts on over her swimsuit.
“I should’ve known you were out here giving the neighbors a show.” Alice shook her head disapprovingly still looking up at Bette with shielded eyes. And with the little girl’s back to her she flipped Alice off. “Besides don’t you have date tonight?”
“I would hardly call this a date more like dinner with a friend.”
…………………………………
Tina had gotten home around midnight and felt bad for having her daughter stay for the second night in a row with her Aunties, but she couldn’t escape soon enough. Walking through the door she’d already missed her cheeky grin and bouncing run. She’d walked into her bedroom and kicked off her shoes not bothering to place them in the right place and smiled as her daughter would sometime come into her bedroom and see this scenario and move to correct it. She was truly her father’s daughter, a neat and tidy toddler that hardly ever left things lying around. She looked to her machine and saw where the light was blinking, she’d already received four missed calls so she already knew who it was that had left a message. She pushed play and went to her closet to change clothes. As the familiar voice blared in her bedroom she shook her head, never had she’d seen such desperation by one person, it was resting on the brink of being annoying. She couldn’t tell if that was because she was tired or he was actually bothering her now.

Thanks so much for continuing the story. Love our girls together with Angie, but it seems that they are not together (dating or married). Please tell me Kelly has disappeared and not in Bette’s life. Tina and Bette are doing things together or at least friends. Hopefully it’s friends with benefits. Can hardly wait for another chapter that explains what is going on with them. Thanks for continuing.
Hi nettababy03, It sweels my little heart with love to read how connected Bette, Tina and Angie are. This is a family. I do get the feeling that Bette would drop Kelly if Tina was to give her a hint that they could share a partnership. This friendship could develop into so much more. Yes, Tina is still grieving Rick but she needs to open her heart to the possibility of someone else. More please and many thanks for this latest chapter. Your Loyal Fan.
