Chapter Forty-Five (Epilogue)
Bette chewed nervously on her lower lip and stood before Tina, her hands on her hips, the simple black dress hugging her tall frame. It scooped low on her neck and ended just above the knee and she was standing in the doorway of the dressing room, waiting expectantly for feedback.
“What do you think?” asked Bette.
Tina tilted her head as she eyed the black fabric and the way it fit on Bette’s body. “Turn around.”
Bette began to rotate.
Tina nodded. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a cute bun and she smiled, visualizing how the dress would look with the right accessories. “It’s the one. It’s simple, but elegant.”
Bette smiled in return. “You think Helena will like it?” she asked.
Tina grinned. “She’s going to love it.”
It had been over two years since the emotional explosion and deep discussion on the windy beach. Amazingly, it no longer hurt Tina to see Bette’s eyes light up brilliantly at the mere mention of Helena’s name. Today’s Tina was a world away from the Tina that had lashed out at Helena and shot daggers with pointed words.
Tina wasn’t the only who was surprised by West Hollywood’s latest couple. They got used to the stares and bugged eyes and speeches about loving one another. Their closest friends turned out to be easy converts and Kit confided in Bette that she was happy for her baby sister. Alice was truly only concerned about details and Shane couldn’t express how pleased she was for both of her friends.
Tina was another story.
The first weeks after the revelation were tough. She was ice cold to Bette during the time they spent exchanging Angelica for visits and it wasn’t until the second month into Bette and Helena’s relationship that the ice began to thaw.
The thawing ice began to warm into something akin to associated friendship and finally, by the third month, the entire framily could sit down together at the Planet without the sucking of teeth or rolling of eyebrows.
And now here they stood, in the dressing room of a department store, picking out a dress for Bette for wear to a party she and Helena would be attending in a few days in Paris. This trip would be the last Jai Laurant excursion for Helena. She wanted to settle down and plant roots and she couldn’t do that traipsing across the globe every few weeks.

Beautiful ending! Sad you decided to finish it, kinda hoped for a more drama ahead, but understand your decision. Really loved reading, the realistic aspects of the story and characters growth. Thank you very much for making it interesting and different.Hope you’ll start new one soon!!;))
WOW, not the ending I’m used to. But, it was a great story, MTS. It really sucks when you live your life for others. I applaud for your bravery. I know you were given a hard time about the Belena pairing, but we survive. BRAVO. So, what’s next???????

I guess all good things come to an end, but this fic was GREAT…can we cajole you into a part II, you know their married life with a new kid…awesome journey, writing…and your toughness and pushback were impressive under fire…and we were all morethansatisfied!!!! You are a very talented writer, I have read the “Roommates”-Part One and Two, on the other site, but no matter what time or space we are in, whether or not Tina is part of the story, I for one just can not picture Bette and Helena togethet, I can very easily see a story though with Tina and Helena together, I was probably in the minority, but after Bette cheated on Tina and then stayed with Candance even after Tina found out about the affair, I would have perferred her to stay with Helena, instead of the mess that turn out to be Season 3.
Great story. Belena is probably my favorite non-canon pairing. Thank you for sharing your work. I do hope you write more in the future.

wow it’s really beautiful way too more realistic than on the show. :)I was afraid that in the end it will be a tibette, but, no thanks for that :)They are really good to and for each other. I’m happy for them for the 3 of them, they needed this change and these talk, I’m glad you put it that way :)And love can really change a person, coz I was kinda surprise that Bette was the one to want to carry the baby. Great story. Hope you’re gonna make another soon ;)
It’s cool that, in the end, everyone was happy. You are a great talent. I hope you return to the site soon to grace us with that talent. I also hope that you didn’t take any comment of mine too personally. If so, I apologize. I know they were fiery, but that’s simply a testament to how great your writing truly is. It was never about Tibette or Belena for me. Though the Belena pairing did not sit well with me. :-) But Tibette getting back together would have been just as bad, lol. I hope you seen in my comments that for me it was more about the characters separately, their actions, & the emotions those actions evoked in me. Writers do indeed have the right to take the story wherever they please. You did just that & I applaud you for it. Thanks for the story. I wish you & your family all the best.

Hay Journey 1962, ain’t nothin wrong with another Belena story so long as Tina isn’t in it and its only posted a maximum of every 3 days. LMFAOL. Some people need time to let it marinade inside their brains. Kind of fitting that you ended it on Halloween MTS. It’s a matter of taste. Some times people get all up into it……and some times people lock the door and turn the lights out. You end up psyching yourself out of a trick or a treat.
MTS, I’m going to join chocolatechild in hoping you will post a sequel to this story. Really enjoyed the rollercoaster you took us with this story from the beginning to the end. Thanks a lot for writing such an amazing story.

MTS, you’re a great author, don’t doubt that. This story found its echo in you, to the point that you found yourself sitting with tears in your eyes as you wrote the emotional scenes but it’s your writing that echoed in so many readers. It’s your writing skills that triggered so many reactions, emotions and posts and of that I hope you’ll soon be proud even if you’re now feeling exhaustion, incomprehension and probably anger. Thanks for soldiering around despite your family rightful concern. I hope you’ll continue to post on this site, if not as an author in the near future, at least as a poster, as your experience will benefit this site and the community. As you said, this site is an L-word not a Tibette one and there’s no questioning of the authors freedom to write about the pairing of their choice. Also, this site is for all shippers and its their right to choose which pairing they’re interested in reading about. I hope you’ll accept the following as a friendly remark, you’d have spared yourself many harsh comments and some readers a lot of hurt, as this story hit both ways close to home, by announcing from chapter One which pairing you’re rooting for. I’m a fan of his writing, his story of “The Roommates,” a classic on this site. You are an amazing writer his talent is not in question. But I gotta be honest with you, I have Tibette heart, if I knew from the beginning that would be a story Belena, I certainly would not have read. You must be wondering why continue to read if the evidence indicates a history Belena. I like drama, spice up the story and makes it very interesting, and some of its AUTHOR’S NOTES gave the hint that might have a turnaround, it was my mistake in thinking that in some obscure way would be a final Tibette therefore continued to read. My comments were based on the behavior of the characters I wait what understands more I ask apologise if they were offensive. Thank you by his writing, I’d like you to continue to write “The Roommates”. All the best to you and your family.
