    Bette pulls through, We meet Roberto, and Shane figures it out!

    The wind blew through the open window of the car, created a chilly breeze. We rode in silence as we listen to the evening’s air. Alice drove slowly up the road, her eyes were wide, her knuckles white and wrapped around the steering wheel. In a few more mintnes we would arrive at my now not so secret spot.
    “Shane, where do we start?” Alice said as we pulled to the side, looking around at the vast trees. 
    I lit a cigarette and blew the smoke in the way I knew. “Cherrie and I used to hide up here, we always went a certain way to avoid the animals.” 
    “Animals, Shane?”  She asked me worried.
    “Yeah you know, like bats, and deer sometimes.” I shoved one hand in my pocket and began to walk. Alice fallowed behind, her mase ready in her hand. 
    The night air was cold on our faces, I looked behind me to see how well Alice was keeping up. She walked slowly, trying carefully not to make a sound. 
    “Alice,” I tried not to laugh “What are you doing.”
    “Bats Shane, there are fucking bats out here!” 
    Even though I was beyond worried about the whereabouts of Carmen, I couldn’t help but laugh at Alice. 
    I walked up to here and grabbed her hand. “C’mon Dr. Gonzo, we’re not in bat country anymore.”  
    We walked through the woods for about a mile until we reach a what looked like a lean to, build from a tarp and some rope. Clothes and books laid strew across the area. There was no fire in the pit, no signs of anything. 
    “Shane, is this where you lived, after you left.” Her voice was barely a whisper. 
    I squeezed her hand “Yes, but back then, it seemed like home.” I let go of her hand and walked around the area, kicking the items that were once our belongings. 
    Alice watched as went back in time. Where Cherrie and I lived here, promising a life that we would never have together. 
    “We’re going to have a pool.” Cherrie said she stroke the hair out of my face. I laughed and pulled her closer to me.  We laid in the filled that surrounded our lean to.
