This picks up during season 1 after Tina gets back from Palm Springs and Bette has only kissed the carpenter.

Tina: "You can’t what babe?"

Bette was startled as she heard her partner’s voice when she was expecting to hear the carpenter. She turned to see her girlfriend’s sweet smile. She leaned in and kissed her softly.

"I was just thinking I don’t think I can get the show ready in 2 weeks. "

"Oh babe- you can do it." Tina gently rubbed Bette’s arm as she gave those words of encouragement. "Well I know you are super busy- but I missed you and wanted to come see you. Any chance I can steal you away for a late lunch?"

"Oh T- I just don’t know if I can do it. The carpenters are here and …"

"Oh did you decide to hire Yolanda’s ex…Candace?"

Bette felt herself panicking-she couldn’t stand to look Tina in the eye. "Um yea- she put in a competive bid so I hired her…well I hired her team."

"That’s great babe! I’d love to meet her."

Bette once again panicked- how could she let Tina meet the woman she kissed just 12 hours ago.

"She is really busy T..you know what I think I can get away for a little bit- let’s go to lunch ok?"

"Oh great- well hopefully I’ll get to meet Candace soon."

Hopefully not Bette thought to herself.

Bette rushed Tina out of the CAC and they went to a thai place just up the street. When they walked in Bette was focused so much on Tina that she didn’t hear her name being called.

"Ahh babe- I think that lady is calling your name." Tina said as they walked to their table

Bette looked up and came face to face with the one person in the entire world she didn’t want to see. She was speechless as Candace made her way over to she and Tina.

"Hey- just wanted to say hi." Candace said as she look Tina up and down

Tina looked at Bette who look terrified and didn’t say a word

"Um hi I"m Tina."

"Hi Tina I’m candace- I’m doing the work at the gallery for Bette."

"Ooohh Candace- so good to meet you. Bette says your amazing."

Candace smiled at this statement and looks over to Bette who had tears in her eyes.

"Well I will let you two get back to lunch, but just wanted to say hi."

"It’s nice to meet you Candace- I’m sure we will run into each other again!"

Candace walked back over to her table and Bette was still frozen.

"Bette what is wrong with you- you didn’t even say hi to her…Hello Bette??"

"Ahh yea I’m sorry T- I was just surprised to see her that’s all."

"You seemed freaked out by seeing her or something."

Bette looked at Tina and pulled herself together

"T- don’t be silly, just surprised. Now let’s eat and you tell me all about your wild weekend."

Bette looked over her shoulder to see Candace sitting there eating innocently. Bette knew she needed to keep her distance from this woman or she would be in big trouble.
